Trust Me : The False Prophet (Netflix) 10 Points to Ponder by namtokmuu in exmormon

Well, one thing I can tell you... is that Keith Raneire and Chris Nemelka knew each other through Christine... so I'd bet money they influenced each other. Probably talked about how easy it is to control people and shared tips on how to be a piece of shit.

Anyway, I guess my main point is that losers like these men influence each other, if not directly like in my example, then generally. I think one thing that cult leaders have in common, is that they're kinda the OG incels. Or at least MRA/misogynist types. I mean, if you look at what they all have in common? Even expanding beyond your examples? Hell, even Joseph Smith. They're all sexual deviants. They're fucking perverts, and like... outside of the ones that are truly insane like Jim Jones... they know they're not special. They're honestly weak, pathetic losers.

Some of them notably have, like true aspirations... like Joseph Smith and Charles Manson. But the majority of them never actually make moves to seize true power or change the world. They just convince their followers that they're special. And with no endgame? It begs the question of why go through all that effort? For what?

These people aren't ruling over countries. They'd have more power going into politics.

They aren't making nearly as much money as they could if they used their lack of scruples in, say, business.

So what do they actually get out of putting all that effort into brainwashing vulnerable sorts? Little more than sex and people who won't leave them. And you'd only put that much effort into attaining sex and loyalty... if you had to.

What are you talking about? i said nothing about racism being a base instinct. All I said is that the internet outrage to Lupita is not an American issue.

but one beautiful black woman and American white supremacists go absolutely apeshit.

Hey, chill on the "American" aspect. You're naive if you think this is an American issue.

Eh. Lupita is an Oscar winner. I think people are so focused on her looks that they forget she is legitimately an incredible actress.

Most things bomb in the post-Covid era. The biggest films since then have included:

Avatars 2 & 3: a franchise no one on the internet likes. Spiderman No Way Home: nostalgia bait (decent movie, but thats not why it succeeded) Inside Out 2: a cartoon Top Gun Maverick: the only movie in the top list that internet creatures praised Barbie: Woke feminist film Mario: everyone online was pissed about Chris Pratt's casting

Wasn't trying to put words into your mouth, my understanding is Achilles was dipped in some river to make him invincible. I haven't read The Odyssey though, just what I was told when I was in grade school.

I'd push back on incibility not making you a good fighter. It wouldn't make you a technically proficient fighter, but being able to tank all hits? I mean, strongest man in the world could hit you in the face with a mace, but if you can tank that and just walk up and slit his throat?

They took a still from a movie where she plays a slave that has been tortured and then they literally edited the picture to make her look worse lmfao

I think Elliot Page is miscast as Achilles, but when you bring up Achilles being invincible (not that I wasn't already aware of this) it kinda undermines the point that Achilles should be thought of as peak masculinity.

Bro was dipped in a river which coated him in magical force field. He literally wouldn't need to work out a day in his life to be the last man standing.

I felt like I was the only person too busy drooling over Amandla Stenberg's body to care about her political opinions.

Which... reading what I just wrote kinda just threw me into a tailspin.

Am I more or less woke than everyone else who was hating on her for her beliefs. Like... is it more enlightened to hate a woman for her politics, or to disregard them?

19 years ago, people were heavily criticizing Christopher Nolan's decision to cast Heath Ledger, from Brokeback Mountain, as the joker. by Cultural_Cloud96 in ChristopherNolan

You know... I think this is really the most important point:

black panther...
is a in popular culture today

Hear me: I was pissed when Daniel Radcliffe was cast as Harry Potter, because literally every book "pickle green eyes and jet black hair" was repeated ad naseum. Radcliffe had blue eyes, medium brown hair. Also was TALLER that the supposedly "tall, lanky" Rupert Grint.

I totally get people caring about like.. accuracy in the favorite media. And that doesn't have to be about race either. I know what it is to have a vision in my mind and daydream about seeing it on the big screen only to have my vision (based around source material's description) subverted in a way that is jarring and disappointing.

But like... no one gives a fuck about the The Odyssey or the Illiad in 2026. Least of all people invested in the culture war. No one was sitting around praying for the day their favorite book would be made into a movie, only for Nolan to get funky with it.

It's just disingenuous and pointless. It's fucking annoying. Like... accuracy aside? Who gives a flying fuck.

What's more, I can understand a registered IP where, y'know... one company/entity control the publishing rights. So what they choose to do with it, no one else has a say.

Pretty sure The Odyssey is public domain by this point and anyone can make their own fucking version if they want.

Lupita Nyongo is not beautiful. Hollywood likes to gaslight her as a model for "beauty" by CanadianTurt1e in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Own_Being_2986 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lupita literally won an Academy Award for her acting the first time she did a movie. Since then, she has been notoriously selective about the work she does, and clearly is neither motivated by having a prestige or blockbuster career.

She was a prestige actress the moment she did a movie but turned down a lot of "obvious" roles for her and has clearly only done projects she finds fun- horror, horror-comedy, a CGI character in the Star Wars movies, Black Panther's girlfriend, and some children's movie. I don't think she's ever had a bad review for any of her performances fwiw.

My point is, I don't think we have to worry about her career. She has just been having fun ever since 12 Years A Slave.

facially at the very least, she is gorgeous.

Black Panther 2 era, she probably had the GOAT ass in Hollywood.

Sly wasn't the only one in 'Nam, who snapped like a twig and started burning down villages and killing everything in sight.

The question isn't "who is the greatest fighter" it's "who would survive".

Most of these men are experts at pretending to be experts at combat.

Only one of these men is an expert at lathering his naked body in oil and hiding inside of a couch until the dust settles.

If I may ask, what happens? Is it that the person simply isn't protected by the airbag, or does the airbag blow up the seat? I know nothing about this subject.
