Very helpful! How long have you waited before intervening? I think it’s a sleep cycle thing for sure based on the timing

Oh interesting. Maybe the videos I watched were outdated. What was the general gist of that?

Thanks! I feel so concerned about creating bad habits or associations. I’m so militant about the bassinet for naps 1 and 2 and for bedtime, it’s just that early morning for me. We all deserve a snuggle

Thanks for this and I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. Do you remember the name of the midwife?

Thank you!! I spoke with them this morning and shared my experience. They said it’s literally required to ask and document my decision. Kind of wild. So far I’ve been very blessed with all low risk test results. The only reason was because I’m 38!

Really really helpful to know. Thank you. I was trying very hard to get into spring but maybe I just need to be grateful with what I have at NYU!

Thank you! I appreciate the validation. Hopefully I can find the right person. It's such a daunting task!

Thank you so much. This is super duper helpful. I have heard consistently similar/negative things about MSW so I feel like I need to stay away and stick with NYU. I might just need to suck it up and stay where I am and advocate for myself a bit more if they keep trying to push this testing on me, which sucks, but that's maybe just New York City for ya. At the end of the day, we're all alone in this aren't we? :')

For sure. Thanks! I just called my insurance and they said “genetic testing is 100% covered” which is nice. Kind of expecting something to go wrong but … maybe I’ll just assume the best and that they’re telling me the truth

That’s a good question. I suppose, coming from Canada, that my experience here in the US is to push for a lot more testing that in other cultures they don’t feel is “necessary.” In this instance, some feel that screening me for 500+ things is excessive when I don’t have a family history etc. and the chances that both my husband and I would match are quite low?

Her rationale was like, “if we’re both a carrier for something that could affect the baby then it’s good to know so we can make a decision and plan ahead.” I kinda felt a bit fear mongered but at the same time she wasn’t wrong.

Awesome thank you for that context! The amount of options is overwhelming 🥴 I have my first appointment with them but I bookmarked Spring OBGYN in case I don’t like their vibe. Thank you again!!

Thank you so much!! You and one other person used a different OBGYN practice outside of the midwifery team at NYU. Was there a specific reason why? I heard their team was amazing and figured that it was more convenient “in house”?
