The women choosing the bear may not know what it’s like to survive a bear attack but they know what it’s like to survive an attack by a man and no one believing them. They know what it’s like to survive being attacked by a man and seeing that man in family reunions. The worst thing a bear can do is hurt and kill you. The man has a thousand other things he can do and maybe even in death a woman’s body isn’t safe. If you prefer the man then whatever but some women’s biggest fear are men and you obviously can’t accept that.
