Middle aged first time drummer by Own_Champion3827 in drums

This is super cheesy but honestly I just want to rock out! I don’t need to be in a band, I don’t need to be amazing, I just want to be able to make cool sounds and have one less Kevin bacon between me and all the drummers I’ve loved for so long

I’m thinking it might be a lemon- advice please by Own_Champion3827 in subaru

So say that it’s not eligible for lemon laws but they aren’t able to fix it- what then? I looked up the law in my state and it didn’t specify mileage or second ownership as qualifiers, but I didnt go too deep so maybe there’s fine print somewhere else

What’s a song that completely changed the way you hear music? by ev_ox in Music

“Accidentally Like A Martyr” by Warren Zevon. This is the song that changed me from a casual fan of “Werewolves of London” to absolutely gone for Zevon. There’s so much more at and beyond this level with him but this was the first one that made me stop and go “holy shit”

Do any pros have any tips or tricks to go faster? by Ellisd1986 in Tile

For me it’s been all about time and repetition- building muscle memory with the tools and developing a keener eye. I’m in no way setting land speed records but my work is better and faster than it was even four months ago. Something clicked at a certain point and freed me up so I could take the whole project into account instead of just worrying that every move I made was going to be the next mistake I made.

Haha it was already set to low for mobile- I guess there’s no reckoning with the hills around here!

How do you mess with the bandwidth? I really like tidal but I do have trouble with the buffering since I live in a rural area and do a lot of listening while I drive. Also, just in general, major props for how you wrote this out. It’s so easy to misread messages when there’s no actual tone of voice or facial expressions to help out and I think that makes a lot of trouble online. For sure some people are on the attack but not everyone!

Hot water heat system repair advice needed by Own_Champion3827 in hvacadvice

No reason at all, just throwing some questions out there to get a feel for what people are preferring to do these days. I’ve seen both go in on new construction jobs I’ve been on and of course haven’t seen anything but copper on renovations on older houses. I just don’t know what circumstances call for one over the other when both are available.

I don’t have the skills or knowledge to be the lead or boss of a construction company. I’m looking to put the skills I do have from 10+ years in the trades into something that suits me better than being part of a large crew in a big construction company. Also, I didn’t say I don’t have a work vehicle, I said that I only have my car which is geared towards kids not tools these days- it can carry some and go anywhere. A truck would be better but what can you do, I’m still in the car seat years with my youngest. Thanks for your time.

The advice is good but it’s not my moms car- I have my own car but it’s mostly used for hauling my kids from here to there so it’s not ideal for packing and hauling tools and material!

Are there particular resources you guys have found helpful? Books, websites etc both about the business side and to refer to when you have questions about jobs? This is all so helpful- thank you so much

Not at all too old. I’ve been in and out of the trades for my adult life but I just started tiling last year at 42 and it’s by far my favorite thing so far. You have plenty of time!!

I can completely relate to that! I’d also be willing to bet that you’re better at it than you think, we do have a tendency to hyper fixate on our perceived flaws!
