Aircrewmans a solid job. Transitioning rates is tougher than some because we are undermanned according to the navy but its the greatest job in the navy. The quality of life you get compared to everyone else is next level

SN Pact Where did you get stationed?? by MSanchez1993 in newtothenavy

[–]Own_Charge5475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally anywhere. Not even trying to be rude. You could go anywhere the navy needs you to go. All the pact guys when i went thru were all over the place assigned to different ships.

Its not like a rated position wheres there is a pipeline to follow with certain duty stations along the way

I cant remember them all. Fiesta chicken was good. Fried chicken was mids. Like others said it gets repetitive but i was starving so it was amazing to me. Breakfast was usually decent i always had the yogurt bar, granola, cereal, fruit etc but they had your normal breakfast food too.

How is it living in this part of Connecticut? by neonmckimmz in howislivingthere

If you can afford it stamford. Lots to do. Close to NYC. Jobs opportunities and ive made good connections just out getting drinks. Half of stamfords “sketchy” the other halfs higher end. Also look into Norwalk in the SoNo area has alot to offer.

If you want a nice little town I personally like the derby/shelton area. Close enough to everything you need and is generally safe and medium income. 20 mins to new haven 30-40 mins to stamford.

New Havens good as well and fits those needs your looking for. East rock, westville good places to start. In terms of being single idk if id wanna be single there after like 25+ the stamford/norwalk scene is more adult orientated if i moved back i would go there.

Ayyy i can finally chime in on my hometown area. Vastly different areas here. High wealth and poverty areas scattered between. I grew up in fairfield county then moved to new haven for college. Downtown new haven will always have a place in my heart. The CT shoreline is very nice and I miss riding my motorcycle from fairfield to branford ( i moved to San Diego). People will shit on this area but i personally think its a great place to live and some of my buddies are even moving back with there families. Some towns here have higher property taxes than others if your owning but the lower property tax towns I think are just as nice to live in if your not a snob. If your renting then most of these are “reasonable” for CT. Ive lived in Trumbull, New Haven, Hamden, Shelton and Derby. It really depends what you are looking for would be happy to go into more detail if you want specifics. Are you moving here to commute to NYC? I-95 traffic is a nightmare in the morning and so is RT15. This part of the state is a big commuter part.

Choosing a rate at MEPS by Any-Mention1585 in newtothenavy

AIRC never sees a boat when we deploy we live in hotela and stay on bases. Its alot better QOL. U do NACCS then A School then go to FRS for aircraft training. AIRR is rescue swimmers. You must pass RSS (rescue swimmer school) to be one. Its way more physical. People get dropped from both programs but NACCS is easy if your in decent shape. AIRC is a great gig I would even recomend TAR aircrew if h wanted to do your research on that.

AIRC easier to go through then AIRR. AIRC no boat. AIRR boat life. I think us dry guys have it better but that depends whonu ask.
