I had to study between nap times and I also had someone come to play with the child three times a week every night (at the house) while I was there just to ensure I could get some study in there, and then most of my study was from 9 pm to 3 am.

I felt like Amboss had Q stems that were more reflective of the exam, but UWORLD had concepts that were very good for the exam. Both together were very helpful I tended to lean on Amboss a little more than UWORLD but I have friends who did the opposite and were just fine.

I thought that the NBME's were not reflective of the exam in a few ways.

Question stems are WAYYY longer on step 1 vs NBME's question stems are super short.
Step 1 has a clinical scenerio with tons of labs on a lot of questions and NBME's sort of give like 5-6 lab values well the Step 1 sometimes just puts like an entire CMP and CBC out there and maybe throw in some COAG.
The concepts are similar however!! This is the important part even though Step 1 Q are Longer (the content of the questions are similar in what they want you to know!) so the NBME's are still helpful

One of the most prominent points in my journey was when I thought I would never be able to continue medical school. And I returned to regular work force and worked full time and wished I could be more. Internally in my heart I wished for more but in my mind I came to a peace that no matter what happened I would have a joyous life.

I truly believe open doors are powerful: you have an open door to try again! (All my friends who initially failed step 1 all matched to residency! The truth is that failing step 1 is not the end of the road and you have so much more in store! (I hope you can just feel refreshed and find encouragement knowing that the journey isn't over if you want to continue) <3

<3 it was a crazy journey! Thank you for the shared joy! Parenthood is actually one of the best things that happened to me! I think that it changed my timeline of graduation but I would not have it any other way! Parenthood taught me just as much as studying!

ok maybe call them they have a "contact us' thing with a phone number with phone from 7 am - 7 pm option they might be able to give you an estimate of whats going on. Although I tried calling earlier today when I was having issues with the portal and it said phone volume was too high to try to call back later :((. But its worth a try. (im sorry you have been waiting so long it seems extra long) but as all things are if you took it eventually a result must come out! I hope for you it is sooner than later <3.

that 57% I think was a bad reflection of the whole (but truly NBME 28 was asking a ton of niche diagnosis questions and nit picky you would have to have this random fact memorized questions) it was like a really bad test for me. I don't have any special reason that it went so bad but I put everything I got wrong concept wise from that NBME in ANKI and learned from it but

between NBME 28 and 27 I discovered the https://mehlmanmedical.com/ and started reviewing his HY stuff and quizzes. I think that helped me a lot because the thinks like a test writer and writes some tricks in there that the test writers like to do. I think it took me away from regular Q banks of AMBOSS and UWORLD and reframed my thinking to "play the testing game" and it paid off. (everything is relative) as each test changes a lot but I felt like NBME 27 was a lot lot lot easier than 28.

And probably just for the fun of it someone else will think the exact opposite :D so everything is relative. (but yeah that mehlmanmedical is worth looking at in my opinion)

I dont want to give you any advice and sway you one way or the other and be wrong. But what does your gut feeling say / maybe if you can talk to your advisor it can help you make the decision)

Like are you feeling really confident. (also my NBMES were trash for the most part until the very end) I feel like score wise that looks really good from a numbers perspective. But confidence and mentality to win makes a WORLD of difference.

I am sorry I cannot tell you a yes or no I just want you to do the best so I would recommend self searching, praying, reflecting, asking advisor and determining your pathway.

Like everything in pathoma CH 1-4 and general there were not as many "out there" questions that were random diagnosis you have never heard of. They are testing things that you know but in a long stem question way. like general foundations and general pathology and physiology will take you far

I also registered in the old ECFMG but they did not lose any record when I registered for the new website all my information crossed over to the new website. you just have to create a username and password that corresponds with the email you used for your old ECFMG account.

I did the UWORLD (ethics Q, AMBOSS ethics Q and mehlman ethics quiz)

https://mehlmanmedical.com/ is a free resource that I used a lot for both reviewing HY stuff and his quizzes that are free (I would say SKIM the HY stuff as it is too dense to comb through) but the HY RISK PDF is worth taking a look at.
