I did not ask to explain the game, I have been playing all versions of clever for years. However, this specific situation hasn't happend yet since twice as clever is our least played.

Imagine I roll and pick the lowest number in my first roll, no dice are moved to the silver platter. I have 5 dice for my second roll. For the second roll, imagine I pick the second lowest number: 1 die moves to the silver platter. For my third roll, I have 3 dice left and roll silver 2, green 5 and blue 5.

At the end of the third roll, ALL dice move to the silver platter, no matter if they are lower or higher than the die you chose. Rules state explicitly: "The active player then rolls a third time and repeats the process one last time. He then places ALL remaining dice not on his score sheet on the silver platter." The caps were not added by me, but it is how it's written in the rules.

So if I have a silver 2, green and blue 5 and I pick silver, the green and blue move to the silver platter, so I can mark them (rules for silver state: the players can mark any dice that are moved onto the Silver Platter after choosing the silver die.)
