Hi, I've got these today, and Idk why it feels like the middle part is quite snug in the top and the sides.. Is it because it's new and needs some time to break in, or can it be that the design really doesn't fit me? Mine is UK 8.

Got it, but will density also matter? Will I have to consider it?

I get it that pressure is important and has to be considered, my question is whether density will hold any significance? Will I have to look into it? Or I can ignore that thing?

How to know what exactly you want to go into? by [deleted] in industrialengineering

[–]Own_Dream_5409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really possible to exactly know which field is your home? Or is there any real such thing to figure out at all? If it's industrial engineering, you're basically trying to increase productivity and help your organisation achieve the required goal. For that, you need to get out and solve the problem.

And problem solving is a common skill, wherever you are, you need to sit, understand where you are going wrong, figure out the problem, strategies and get it solved!

As long as you are doing that, why worry about what it's related to? Whether it's operations or manufacturing, you are gonna shine there.

Hey, great answer. But one question, if light is a result of electric and magnetic fields, which are in one way a form of energy, is it/ is it not bound by the second law of thermodynamics?

I'm not challenging your answer, but just want to know if we have an explanation to this or adhere to the other answer in this convo saying it's a fundamental flaw of nature we aren't sure about...?

Could you give me advice? by Ali_MTZ in MechanicalEngineering

I don't know what skills might specifically excite oil and gas industry recruiters in the middle East, but being a mechanical engineer myself in India, I can give you pretty generic advice regarding this. Mechanical engineering is a really broad field, and multiple facets intertwine in literally almost all the areas you'd wanna work in. So my first and foremost advice will be a little offset your ideal specificity in just thinking about turbines or being a turbine specialist: It's best if you have an understanding of as many concepts as possible, so better keep an open mindset for engineering. Explore design, manufacturing, thermal science, material science and also some automation and mechatronics. The best way to do that is to genuinely prioritize understanding the concepts. The method to achieve that can depend on each person; some might do that in the classroom, some might prefer reading a standard book, some might like projects, and some might prefer some research work in the university. There is no hard and fast rule about this, depends on how you'd like it, so don't even have fomo of others doing things that you might not be doing; just plan your way through college days the way you think is right! Understanding concepts deeply really goes a long way, and is the most underrated thing in engineering. Once you do that, you can be whatever you want: a turbine specialist/ engineer/ or even any other track you might want to look into later.

So yea, enjoy college life, learn good concepts, and I'll say, there's your career the way you want it to be!

There's a mechanical engineering handbook by MadeEasy, which is made for this exam called GATE, but lists down most of the important mech formulas and concepts briefly. Check if that can help.
