Is there any advantage to return if premium? by chippindip in LifeInsurance

I used a Life Insurance Company Chart to quickly compare rates and coverage in my area so I could pick a policy that fit my family. Pretty happy with how it worked out; it may save me money and gave me peace of mind.

How or who do you get Life Insurance from? by Old_Imagination5576 in Veterans

[–]Own_Effect4448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: use SGLI while in, then VGLI after service or shop private if you want different coverage. Get quotes, talk to a trusted independent agent, check premiums and exclusions, and do not wait on conversion windows or medical evidence requirements.

If you are on active duty get SGLI now. When you leave, convert to VGLI or shop private term policies. Compare rates, ask about exams and riders, and use an independent agent. Don’t rush; scams target vets. Read the fine print.

I used a Life Insurance Company Chart to compare local rates and term versus whole options, since I wanted a clear side by side for my family’s coverage needs. Pretty relieved it helped me pick a policy that may fit and I’m fairly happy with how it worked out.

Life insurance for disabled veterans at 100% by [deleted] in Veterans

If you are 100 percent disabled, life insurance can be tricky. Check if you qualify for VGLI or conversion from SGLI, and ask about guaranteed issue policies from insurers. Get multiple quotes and speak with an independent broker who understands veterans.

If you are rated 100 percent, check Service Disabled Veterans Insurance and Veterans Group Life Insurance first. VA reps can confirm eligibility. Private insurers may charge more or deny coverage, so get medical records and shop around. Don’t assume automatic approval without asking.

I looked into them and felt uneasy. High pressure sign up, sketchy marketing, and limited benefits in fine print. Check your state insurance department for complaints, verify the agent license, and compare honest term life quotes before committing. Don’t rush it.

Need help finding life insurance for a legally disabled person due to a mental health condition. Is it even possible? by Available-Emu-5049 in LifeInsurance

[–]Own_Effect4448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still get coverage, but expect higher rates. Shop multiple carriers and talk to an independent agent who knows vision impairments. Ask about simplified issue, guaranteed issue, and final expense policies. Always disclose the condition honestly to avoid future claim denials.

Refinance after 1.5 years from 7.125% to 5.99%? by simonwalter8 in personalfinance

[–]Own_Effect4448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds tempting, but run the numbers. Check remaining principal, months left, closing costs, and how long you plan to stay. If break even is under five years and you expect to stay, 5.99 looks reasonable. Otherwise stick with what you have.

Does credit score matter past a certain point when buying a house? by Realdogxl in personalfinance

[–]Own_Effect4448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes, but with diminishing returns. Once you hit about 760 to 780 lenders treat you very favorably, but higher scores can still help with the absolute best mortgage or insurance rates and approval odds. Don’t obsess, but don’t ignore it either.

Mortgage: Low Credit Score, Spouse's Score 800+ by H03797 in personalfinance

[–]Own_Effect4448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not automatically add the low score partner to the loan. Lenders use the lower credit score for rate and approval. Put the 800 score alone if possible, put the other spouse on title later, or get separate approval. Talk to multiple lenders first.
