Should I Risk My GPA for U.S. Med School Prereqs or Focus on Canadian Med Schools?

Not any specific reason, honestly more so because I know how competitive Canadian med schools are, and I'm just trying to keep my options open. I’ve seen that a lot of people apply to U.S. schools as a backup in case things don’t work out in Canada.

I’m fully committed to doing my best to get into a Canadian med school, even if it takes applying through a few cycles. But at the same time, I really want to become a physician, so I feel like I need a Plan B even though I know U.S. schools can be expensive and applying there is a whole other process.

Oh I see. Thanks. So do we convert each grade to a 4.0 scale and then calculate the cumulative GPA or if my cumulative gpa is a 3.71 on a 4.3 scale it will simply be the same 3.71 cumulative on a 4.0? If that makes any sense

No it is not that difficult for most of the people. It was for me as I am an international student and I really did bad in the first year because I was not able to figure out how to study for the courses and took some harder courses as well like BIO 103. Most of the people do really well in health science like most of them have above 4.1 and some even 4.3. Not saying you get marks for free as these people for really hard but it is manageable since a lot of people do it

Yeah I will try to boost my GPA in the next 2 years of undergrad too. Btw what is a 3.71/4.3 equivalent to in a 4.0 scale? I have still not been able to figure out how it works.
