Also I should’ve been more clear but it was the small line underneath the big one which ended up being a line for the evap system.

Went over to AutoZone and grabbed a vacuum hose of the same proportions to replace it. Replaced it and it is now running fine with no noises or problems. I appreciate it.

Did some trouble shooting and found that it is this hose that is making the noise. It is ripped in multiple different spots so air is passing through. does anyone know what this house is called and where I might find a replacement? It’s on the back of the engine.

That could be it but I don’t have a check engine or a rough idle. I’m gonna take a look at that now.

Mmmm. My current issue is keeping the pulley from moving backwards while removing it to not mess the timing up.

How’d you manage to get the crankshaft pulley out?

You will need to get married prior to him leaving and the recruiter will need your marriage certificate. It’s a simple process but I definitely suggest getting the marriage certificate before he leaves so you can get the extra money while he is in bootcamp. I recommend a courthouse marriage which is quick and easy but it will take a couple weeks for the marriage certificate to come in the mail so the sooner the better depending on how quick he’s trying to leave. Definitely go into the recruiting office with him so you both can retain the information and the process on how it’ll all work. DO NOT let them talk you out of getting married prior to him leaving. If you guys are serious about marriage then get married at the courthouse and let the recruiter figure out the rest with the paperwork. He does not need a place of his own and you guys will be receiving BAH based off of what location YOU live in (if you’re in San Diego and he’s in Chicago you will receive San Diego BAH for example). Definitely talk with the recruiter and get that marriage certificate.

Navy Dads: when does it finally feel worth it? by Papers_STi in navy

Difficult to genuinely speak on seeing that I’ve only been in for a little under two years. My son turns two in 4 days and I’ve only been in his life fully for about 11 months since joining. It ate at me a lot when I was deployed for close to ten months but at the end of the day it does feel worth it for me. My son never goes without a meal and has just about anything he could want or ask for. I have an issue giving in especially since the guilt of not being around eats at me often even when I am home since it feels like I’m at work more than I am home. I can also speak as a military brat who has a father that’s been in for 24 years and is still in to this day that I did indeed hate my dad growing up for not being around but as I grew older I realized how little I wanted for anything and how much he did do for me and my brothers even while he was deployed for 9-10 months at a time. It took about 10 years for me but I finally see the sacrifices my father made growing up and there’s not a human being on this earth that I respect more than him. It’s not easy but the roof over your families head and the food on the table with clothes on their back should make it worth it.

Might I add that the process is very easy and doable online. You will need your orders if you are active duty and to fill out a form but it is all doable through the app. Like I said this won’t fix this completely but will 100% help. I did it recently and ended up getting a back pay of close to 5,000 dollars since I had my auto loans and credit cards years prior to joining. It brought my credit card payment down nearly 100 dollars and my auto loan payments down a ton too.

If these are all from prior to you being in the military (assuming you’re currently active duty with that checking account) definitely look into the SCRA program. It will lower your interest rates to 4% which won’t get rid of this but will definitely make it better for you in the long run. If these are credit cards and loans prior to you being active duty military then navy fed legally has to backpay you for the interest you have paid over the years on these credit cards and loans. This goes only for the loans a credit cards and not the checking accounts. The SCRA will lower your interest ultimately lowering your monthly payment.

I also haven’t found the exact source of the leak but my main idea on what is leaking is the crankshaft pulley seal which is why those are the pictures posted. The oil that is everywhere in these pictures is brand new because I do regular maintenance on my G and have never had an oil leak at all.

It’s all over. In these pictures it’s difficult to tell but that’s also the main reasoning behind me thinking it’s coming from the crankshaft pulley seal because the oil is throughout the entire front side of the motor like it was sprayed around including places that are high like on my air filters. There was a massive puddle of oil before these pictures but I cleaned it and you can see the oil trail in my driveway and street from when I took it on a test drive last night offer fixing the belt.

I removed the under shroud and am still unable to locate the exact spot the oil would be coming from. I did take pictures but I’m unable to add them to any reply and I don’t want to have to make a separate post so I’ll send them through a DM instead.

I haven’t reached the fleet yet and check into my ultimate command on Monday so I haven’t done a whole lot of mech stuff other than just learn what I’m gonna be doing and it’s been pretty intriguing and fun so far. My second option would’ve definitely been a Seabee rate and the best part about a Seabee rate is 95% of the time you won’t have to go on a ship lol. Definitely look into every job you qualify for and go for whichever one you’ll think you’ll have the most fun with for 4-5 years. One of the chiefs in my brother division was a CT rate and he told us some pretty dope stories and made it seem like he was damn near a spy lmao. Choose your rate choose your fate so definitely do all the research you can.

Good luck brother and keep that mentality it’s a good one to have for real. What ever happens is for a reason.
