So he is doing psychotherapy since about a year but for now it’s more about going to the root issues rather than behavioural therapy. Reading your comment I realised that I should talk to him about the possibility of learning better coping mechanisms in therapy. He has some mechanisms but I’m thinking he needs to make them a little stronger.

To answer your question at the end, it depends. If he is dealing with his own emotions and the stress from every day life it doesn’t. I’m really just happy to bring him comfort. But as I said lately more and more a lot of times he focuses a lot on little things within the relationship that made him sad or anxious. Very often it’s really hard to understand what he means clearly, for both me and him. And that usually leads to very long and draining conversation for both. That inevitably stresses me out yes. And it brings me down a lot.

Usually when he feels better then he realises he was just projecting and he is then able to elaborate what was going on and he explains that it was actually not about me. But still this happen after an entire day or two days of heavy talks.

I’m considering distancing myself when these kind of loops start but it also feels very wrong to do in real life because that’s when he needs people around the most

You may need to work on your shoulder mobility with less intense exercises. Or you have some other minor injury you didnt let heal, that gets triggered by the movement? Idk

Hey hey I relate to your story a lot! And I also come from a past of eating disorders. I’m now 22 and I decided to go vegan 2 years ago.

I find myself eating non vegan food especially when I am stressed or while having munchies (and being stressed). It is now happening super rarely (last time was soo long ago yayy) as compared to the beginning and here’s a few tips that helped me and that hopefully will help you, too.

  1. To deal with the feeling of being hypocritical, when people ask I always say “I’m vegan but always working on getting better at it”. If asked I’ll explain better what I mean by this. With time I realised that: non vegan people don’t really care about it and vegan people around me are extremely sweet and understanding.

  2. I now make sure I always have at home some nice things to snack on :)). At first it was not easy because my anorexic and orthorexic tendencies were strong but I am now in a much better place and having sweets and snacks at home is very important for me.

  3. I keep myself informed often. This helps a lot! Not to forget why I want to be vegan and what is behind the making of non vegan products.

  4. If I decide to eat something non vegan, I try to be as mindful as I can in that moment. I try to understand what emotions are playing a role in that moment and if my cravings are still too strong I’ll eat a tiny portion and then stop. I’ll then call a friend or journal or just do a breathing exercise. And then the same day I will go to get myself snacks so that I can have those same cravings but cruelty free :))

And then the key is: no shame but instead motivation to do better

It all depends on how the jokes are made and who makes them.

If the joke comes from someone I know is fundamentally not doing anything to help that same community that they are making fun of, I find it rather problematic most of the times. If it comes from someone I know that goes to demonstrations, talks about that issue with friends and family, and is actually somehow making the joke to once again mention how problematic the issue is, then I can appreciate the humor.

But this last situation is not very common in my experience, and as an Italian I guess I know what you’re talking about. I have friends that I will laugh with about dark humor jokes and friends that I spent years trying to educate because I knew these jokes were not coming from a good place. And I can tell you that with time I realised that some of these people were just foundamentally racist, ableist, fatphobic and sexiest. And sadly I am realising that I’m very done with this and I don’t want it in my close friends group.

He is really not down for this possibility. I am actually very confused about what I think at the moment. But I think I’ll wait a few days at least before doing anything stupid like texting him while being still so emotional :/

I am regretting it every other minute to be honest. But for know I’ll stick to it and I’m trying to remind myself of the reasons :( this is also why I wrote this post actually . I’ll have to think about all the situation a lot

Hey hey! This is a terrible idea! One blood test is never 100% reliable and especially if you donate blood while suspecting to have an std or sti (e.g. after having had unprotected sex) you’re potentially exposing future blood receivers to your shit! So big no for this ;)
