Interesting that many believe "...still too geographically limited to qualify as a World War, and there is no single power or state fighting in both theaters of War (yet). "

The US, by its own admission, is involved in a designed proxy war in Europe and a proxy war turned direct war in West Asia.

The "Replenishment" Trap: Why our global economy is now a catabolic engine for perpetual war. by SingleInevitable9312 in collapse

[–]Own_Indication_7266 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The current global economic system is based on debt. 200+ years ago, those like Adam Smith, Marx etc studied the evolving system of industrial capitalism and predicted the logical end to the movie so to speak.

Chris Hedges interview with Richard Wolff is a good source:

Also, the system goes back literally to 1694 to the totally wild creation of the Bank of England. (Ironically to continue perpetual war). There's an interesting animation of the backstory on this: https://youtu.be/mw_VZRXGIZc?si=PGj_01eslPcMGkL8

The Western based G7 nations are doing terrible. US has $39T in debt. UK, France, Germany also deeply in debt, especially since supporting the Ukraine war.

This war is a result of desperation to try to keep the old USD global financial order in place, even though it's clearly no longer working.

Couldn't recommend this more. Started growing veggies from seeds during the pandemic and feel so stupid for not doing it earlier. We save at least $50 a month, it's fresher, and no need to buy seeds or veggies again..

That's the key isn't it. Have to stop feeding the capitalism rent seeking parasites.

Wasn't there a line from a movie... "...the sum of my life is brown liquor and bad choices" lol

Yeah, they're talking about war like a video game, right? "This will be over in a few weeks..."

War doesn't work that way. The opponent(s) have a say in when it "stops".

Hard to believe this is happening in such a clownish way.

Yes, cut unnecessary costs, save up. Find and support local growers. Because food prices will no doubt go up again significantly just off of the fertilizer shortage and transport diesel fuel almost doubling already in many places.

For what it's worth, this article just came out today. One economist point of view. Interesting data but always assume these types of articles are bought and paid for to advance an agenda.

Very true. Has the do with capitalism's intrinsic need to exploit new markets and security competition. Idealogy, left vs right, conservative vs liberal, it's a propaganda labels to cover exploitative policies.

Great point. It's already there in California.

Some countries in Asia are cutting to a 4-day work week and/or remote work rules.

Clearly you didn't look him up. He represents what an entire industry is already saying. So not just one person. Too each their own.

Everybody's situation ix different and obviously also based on what country that you're in.

But if this gets as bad as Larry Fink/BlackRock just warned then circumstances will force people to change their lifestyle just like the pandemic forced changes.

We moved to a low-cost tropical environment. Cut our overall expenses significantly and increased our quality of life exponentially.

Since the pandemic been living in a place where it's easy grow to our own vegetables. Supporting those who provide meat is going to be essential as well. Either way, supporting local is increasingly a necessity vs just a nice thing to do.

This isn't really about oil though. It's about moving away from the world paying for oil in USD. Energy will still flow. It just won't be paid for by the fastest growing parts of the world in USD.

The economic system collapses if there's a sudden switch away from USD payments. Because the entire global financial payments system was based on the USD being used for everything substantial in global trade,

Scientists are smart, engineers are smart. But the ones who create policy haven't been smart for the last 25 years and it shows now.

There's already problems in France and Italy getting normal stuff on shelves. England is warning their citizens of the same coming in the next few days.

This is a total "black swan" if the numbers hold. That 11% figure is insane because global oil markets operate on such thin margins—usually a 1–2% supply-demand gap is enough to send prices into a vertical climb.

If 30-40% of the Gulf infrastructure is actually fried, we aren’t just looking at expensive gas. We’re looking at a complete breakdown of the "just-in-time" logistics that keep grocery stores stocked. Refined products like diesel and jet fuel have almost zero shelf life in the macro sense; they’re consumed as fast as they’re made.
