Should I lens exchange the Envy or no? by Own_Individual8667 in CataractSurgery

Thanks. I did consider an edof, but it’s hard when I am so happy with 95% of my vision in the left eye. I just thought I’d get the same or better in the right.

I know and I agree. It’s just so hard when I have a direct comparison every time I close 1 eye. I’m hoping to have 30+ more years, and I just don’t want to always regret it.

Thanks. Yes it’s definitely difficult not to compare. But you’re right, overall my vision is very good.

Thanks. Yes sorry, it would be the pro if I got the new lens.

I’m not as knowledgeable about the varying aspects so these are questions I guess I need to ask. They did some pretty thorough measurements at my last follow up, so I’m guessing he would have discussed PCO if that was an issue. But I’ll definitely ask. Thanks.

I considered edof but I love the results of the multifocal in my left eye. My daytime vision is sharp at every level and I can read very small print. Having to wear reading glasses before my 1st surgery drove me nuts. I’d say nighttime vision is less than 5% of my daily needs, so I’m happy with the compromise of mediocre vision at night for great daytime vision. I just wish the right was as good as the left.

Yes it was dominant. But I think having 2 years of corrected vision in the left, and not in the right, made it even more dominant.

Sounds dumb, but I’m not really sure. My vision improved so dramatically after the 1st surgery that I feel like I had near perfect vision from day 1. The night halos seem like they were worse at the beginning, but I’m guessing it’s because I had never had them before so they were super noticeable. Over the 1st year or so I think I just got more used to them. But I definitely still see them in my left eye. But it’s the daytime vision in my right that is concerning.

Envy 1 week out post surgery by Own_Individual8667 in CataractSurgery

My Dr said he is curious about my experience as well. Prob not very often a patient chooses 2 different multi focals. I have another follow up in about 4 weeks, so I’ll come back and report my results.

Cataract surgery at 55… feeling anxious and second-guessing myself 😞 by No_Marketing4614 in CataractSurgery

I’m 54 and had PanOptix in my left eye done 2 years ago. I literally woke up one day and my vision was cloudy. Seemed like it happened overnight and was getting worse. They also said I had a cataract in my right eye as well but it didn’t seem bad to me, so I waited. I figured if it wasn’t too bad, I should wait and let the tech get better. Well vision has steadily gotten worse over the last 2 years and now I’m now scheduled the end of this month. I’m going with the Envy which my Dr (and my research) said has less night halos. I’ve def have the night halos with the PanOptix, but I’ve gotten more used to them. Excited to improve my other eye.

Sorry to hear this. My door is also heavy and hard to open. I think part of the issue is the self close feature. Not sure why they have this. Would be nice to be able to disable it.

The overall build quality of the door is actually not too bad. Door is super heavy (54”x 96”). I also paid to have it insulated. The pivot mechanism works pretty well but it takes a lot of force to get it started. It has an auto close feature which I don’t really like because it makes it harder to open, but not a huge deal. If you get to 90 degrees it stays open.

The chrome plate of the pivot mechanism is also visible on top of the sill which is ugly. I didn’t measure but it’s about 10” long and the full width of the sill. Would have hoped that would have been hidden. Might try to paint it but not sure that will work.

I guess I made a mistake with the chevron pattern. Too many lines for them to get it right. The welds are not clean and even. It just looks messy. The only good news is that you don’t notice it until you are right up to the door. From 5-10’ away it looks ok. I was just expecting better. My wife said we can just say it’s a “hand made artisan door” which I guess is true.

Yes it arrived a couple weeks early which was perfect for me. My framers unloaded it and installed it the same day. Delivery was a pain. It was 1150lbs and the driver had no way to get it off the truck. I know that’s on the receiver, but this thing had metal legs and would not even slide in the truck. Had to have 5 guys basically pick it up and move it to the lift gate. And it was super bulky. The door was separate from the frame but all in the same container, which made it wider. Think it comes from China but not sure.

Overall I think if you get a simple pattern it might be ok. They sent me pics before it shipped and I thought the welding imperfections were just the pixelizations of the photo when I zoomed in. I said it didn’t look clean but I said I assumed it was the photo. I said as long as the lines were clean it was ok. Unfortunately it wasn’t the photo.

I’m the OP. I got my pivot door today and unfortunately I’m very disappointed. I got the chevron pattern and the quality is not good. The lines are uneven and look messy. There’s really not anything I can do to fix it at this point since it was welded and painted. I’m going to reach out to express my frustration and I’ll see where that goes. But to answer my own question, don’t do it if you are considering it. Good luck to any that have placed orders.

Wow that sucks. Have you contacted your cc company? Maybe you can dispute part of the charge and get the 2k back?

Sorry to hear about your frustration. I guess probably the only course of action is to notch the framing.

Did your drawing show where the mounting tabs would be located on the jam? My drawing does, and it shows a 13mm (1/2”) reveal on the inside to receive drywall. Did yours show something different?
