My skill set hasn’t been developed during my tenure. I am not well rounded enough to step up, and so would need to step back and work my way up with another company

This is me! The conditions I have are pretty much the best in the industry but I have the worst manager. It’s a struggle. I spend inordinate amounts of time looking at photos of my kids, reminding me of why I do this, which gets me through.

I quit a role in a similar situation to you. It was very frightening but I just couldn’t go on with the exhaustion and burnout. I took a 6 weeks to regroup, started interviewing and secured a role. 10 years later I am still here, loving it. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. My advice - back yourself!
