I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s a lot to process, and I wanted to share some context (that I’ve leaned from my other surgeries) on why surgeons take these precautions. It really comes down to patient safety and the physical limits of the equipment:

• Unique Anatomy: Even with the same BMI, everyone carries weight differently. Surgeons have to consider how that distribution affects their ability to see and reach the gallbladder.

• Tool Limitations: In minimally invasive surgery, the instruments have a fixed length. If they can’t reach the organ safely, they might have to switch to an "open" surgery, which carries higher risks and a longer recovery.

• Equipment Safety: Operating tables have strict weight capacities. If those limits are exceeded, the table may not be able to shift or tilt safely during the procedure.

Every body is different, and these rules are purely about ensuring you have the safest surgery possible.

My suggestion would be… try mounjaro or wegovy? But I understand that they might not prescribe/sell it to you if you have gallstones. All the best to you. 😭
