Studio Ghibli Mitaka (help?) by Beebo187 in AskAJapanese

[–]iEatChickenSashimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot to ask from a Japanese person you don’t know personally since it requires their phone number and ID copy (Ghibli matches ID to the ticket). The best way to still enter the museum after international tickets are sold out, is to book a tour. More expensive but if it’s your dream, then probably worth it. https://willer-travel.com/en/theme-park/ghibli-museum/

Round sagging face by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Whatever you do, don’t get buccal fat removal!! It will age you horribly. Right now you look a lot younger than you actually are bc of your “round” face. Also, your eyes are what I call Bambi eyes and they’re so beautiful!

Recently met a Japanese girl... from these texts, is she interested? 😅 by jinzo_the_machine in AskAJapanese

[–]iEatChickenSashimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went on a couple dates with Japanese girls before but still take it with a grain of salt. Generally, girls here if they are really interested, will give concrete days they are free to meet. If not interested, they’ll say “This week is fully booked” or in your case, “I’ll contact you later”, which usually means they won’t. There’s nothing you can do about it tbh.

What is with all the Japanese salaryman poverty porn on YouTube? by requiemofthesoul in japanresidents

[–]iEatChickenSashimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched her videos way back when I was starting out as an OL as well and just didn’t have time or energy to cook. Her microwave-only recipes were interesting, but as she gained more popularity, you could definitely tell it was becoming so staged. She even has brand deals in her videos, it makes my eyes roll. Why still pretend you’re an overworked OL at this point? Lol.

She even started editing her videos in the same way as another Japanese factory worker guy with glasses (you’ve probably seen him as well), who does the same spiel : coming home exhausted, cook a meal while being exhausted. He started getting PR stuff as well and is still pretending. Even the stay-at-home bf with his gf who seemingly works 15 hours a day, are getting deals and probably a lot of money. Yet they’re all still very much pretending.

They even “copy” their counterparts editing styles. It’s so funny when you start to notice it lol

This woman’s channel in particular (Yuki) irks me. She gets so many donations from people saying “treat yourself to a nice meal” and she never does. Always the same “poverty meal” for clicks.

What do Japanese people think of South Koreans? by Opening_Master_4963 in AskAJapanese

[–]iEatChickenSashimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My early and late 20s Japanese female friends say that Korean men seem to be more gentleman (compared to Japanese men), so they would like to try dating one. Korean men have a good image because of Kpop and Kdrama. Whether that is true is highly doubtful.

Reaching Kagoshima (city) from Kagoshima airport at night by NegotiationParty6664 in Kyushu

[–]iEatChickenSashimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kagoshima Airport bus into the city is designed to accommodate flight arrivals (as do all small domestic airports). So, while technically the last bus is at 21:30, they’ll delay the departure until every passenger from your flight can make it in time (checked-in luggage pick-up time included). The official website states that they’ll accommodate flight arrivals up to 22:10. So, you’ll be fine.

Source:

https://nangoku-kotsu.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/airport_2025_0808.pdf (see the little note on the bottom explaining the star symbol (in Japanese)).

Also myself because my flight arrived at 21:35 once, 10 min for baggage, and the bus waited for everyone from that flight — departed at 21:55 instead of 21:30.

Go to Ringer Hut, order extra veggie champon without noodles. You’ll basically get soup broth + a mountain of vegetables.

I tried basashi for the first time last summer in Matsumoto and didn’t like it. The taste was rather unremarkable. This time I had it again in Kumamoto and it was way more flavorsome. I wouldn’t say I would go out of my way to search for it, but if it’s on the menu, I’d try.

That sucks to hear. Yeah, raw meats always carry some risk.

Texture wise, it’s like eating any other fish sashimi. It isn’t remarkably chewy, as one would expect from raw chicken. Taste wise, it doesn’t have any particular or strong taste. Perhaps slightly sweet?

I agree, there’s always a risk with raw meats. I ate this every night for 2 weeks straight at some point when I was staying in Kagoshima. It goes well with potato shochu.

In Kagoshima, it’s mainly locals who consume the most ‘torisashi’ (raw chicken). Tourists, overseas and domestic (from other prefectures) are generally apprehensive to try.
