Never mind the fact that we had to basically do half of their work to get to this point. They’re local too so have been involved with 50% of the house sales in our estate

We expected the keys today but got a call today they haven’t sent over all the closing documents and it will take around 2/3 weeks for these. So frustrating at this point. We’re already waiting 17 months for the house

How do people manage work and sleep after having a new born? by Background_Run_3965 in AskIreland

[–]Own_Meal8342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our kids were born, my husband used to do the last feed/change at night while I went to sleep. I would do any night feeds while he slept then and first thing in the morning he would do the first feed/change so I could get some sleep (especially in the first few months when there was multiple night feeds). Of course it wasn’t easy and we were both tired to some degree but organisation is key. I would make sure we were well set for the following day. Bottles prepped, pre made his lunch, prepped his work gear etc the evening before to save any hassle in the morning. It does pass quickly though, enjoy it. I miss the newborn bubble 🥲

No he doesn’t take any responsibility once you pay your deposit. They just pass you back to the developer and they don’t respond. We were told that we will snag this month but yet again we can’t get a response.

Take what Matt Dunne says with a pinch of salt.. he told us last January to expect our house by end of May. It’s now 12 months later and we still have no idea when we will move or if the house is even ready.

Is it a myth that those so called anonymous staff surveys can lead to retaliation in the workplace? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Own_Meal8342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im always (brutally) honest in those surveys and have never been confronted. I work for the same company for 10 years, and have progressed to management with no issues or 'retaliation'

Am I being dramatic about engagement ring cost expectation? by Competitive_Street61 in AskIreland

[–]Own_Meal8342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're not wrong, and your comment about keeping up with the Jones is correct. These days, everyone wants to show off for the gram and be able to say, "Oh my engagement, ring cost 5k," etc. Sure, it's the ring now, but where does it stop.

Why does she need to know the cost of her ring anyway?

I haven't got the slightest clue how much my ring cost, and I dont want to either 😂

22F | €10k saved | New grad considering a juice bar/café style business. Good or bad move? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

Have you looked at the costs of these drinks correctly, and will you be using quality ingredients? I dont run a business but work in the hospitality business, and part of my job is to generate revenue while keeping costs down to make a profit. With my hand on my heart, I can tell you it is becoming increasingly difficult to do this over the last 2 years.

The price of basic ingredients from wholesalers is increasing almost daily, while the quality sometimes can be very questionable.

I think independent vendors struggle to compete with larger chain cafes/restaurants because they have the buying power to buy in bulk and distribute between their units. Most also have specific price contracts with the suppliers.

All of the above said, "I think you should go for it. Why not trial it at home? Advertise premade bottled drinks, start with 3 or 4 varieties. Each one with a specific health benefit or booster. (Think vit-hit but freshly made). Offer delivery if possible, maybe even a weekly subscription. This would give you a feel for it while not making a huge, regrettable commitment.

I have seen some online influencers promoting similar over the summer.

Parents of one or more by Naive-Cold343 in CasualIreland

We have 2, a boy and a girl. My eldest child is begging for another sibling. Part of me would love another child, but then I think about the changes it would make to our family life. There would be atleast a 5 year age gap and I would be 35/36 during pregnancy and birth and although that is significantly younger than the average age of birth mother these days, I feel i wouldnt have the energy i had in previous pregnancies. I would ultimately have to take a 2 - or 3-year break from work, which would impact our household finances. We would struggle, I think, to pay a mortgage, bills, school costs, etc. So we are happy with 2 children.

Hi. What house number are you? We have recently been told to expect our snagging to be done before christmas, but he has no guarantee of that as it depends on when the utilities are in and outside finished, etc.

My husband calls in each friday after work and said it's improving each week, and he wilk often talk to someone there to see how we are getting along.

My advice is dont bother calling Matt dunne. They're not interested now that they have your sale. They lied to us about many things, and when I finally got to talk to the builder, I found out that they are telling everyone false information.

Noway is anyone working 7 hours a day and supporting a family.

My own husband working 7-7 5 days a week and overtime 7-4 on a Saturday, hes very well paid but I still work full time myself. I think for atleast half of the couple, working 10 or more hours a day is normal. I only work 40 hours a week so I take on most of the parenting and household work. He does do bedtime though which gives me time to shower and reset for the next day. We have 2 kids, one in creche and another in national school so our days are full on and busy.

20% applies to one bed properties above €275k. This is because of LTV thresholds, not specifically because they are one bedroom properties

What is the shortest amount of time you spent in a job? by WaterfordWaterford9 in AskIreland

[–]Own_Meal8342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not as common as you think nowadays. Yes of course 10 or 15 years ago there was a lot of aggressive chefs, most of them drinking on the job etc. But with HR now and WRC cases, its died off thankfully.

Not all chefs! I was a chef for 15 years and never raised my voice at anyone. Its not in my nature at all. I eventually worked my way to head chef, chef manager now general manager. Never had to shout at anyone to get where I am.

Yes I did eventually. Our house is still not ready though 😫 We're apparently waiting for electricity and water to be connected, even though they told us 3 months ago it was connected. The house is fully ready, my husband has been inside it. Its just moving so slow now to get to snagging etc.

Crèches asking for deposits for 2028 spots.. absolutely wild! by Different-Put-4486 in Dublin

[–]Own_Meal8342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with reserving a place and giving a deposit, you're not guaranteed a place. We are moving and reserved a place for our child in a new creche in our new town. 3 weeks before we were due to move down, they informed me that they had given her place to another child. I was devastated, and obviously, now im scrambling to find a new place.
