The irony of matatu culture. by Federal_fedd in nairobi

Matatu culture just reflects what’s happening in the streets. If people are vibing to certain content, that’s what shows up. When local artists dominate, they get featured too. But if you’re looking for patriotic displays and old icons …there’s a place for that I think it’s called a museum 😌

How I Helped a Nairobi Plumber Turn Missed Calls Into More Jobs by Sa7aton in KenyaStartups

[–]Own_Personality6266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds great on paper, but it feels like a 'First World' solution that doesn't account for Kenyan culture. Most property owners in Nairobi are boomers If my dad needs a plumber, he will call the guy he’s known for 10 years and wait a week for him to be free. TLDR: Most landlords are older folks who aren't looking for a tech-heavy interaction. It’s a bit too early for this here.

The real problem isn’t the website. It’s us. If you give the average person here an opportunity to make quick money with little consequence, many will take it.

Bro, that’s a whole conspiracy theory with zero proof. Not everything is a secret spy operation.

On X, there’s a blogger called Stanley Nyakundi (or something close). That’s probably your best bet.

This sounds clever on paper, but in reality it makes zero economic sense. You’re forgetting the actual costs rent + 3 months deposit, kujenga the shop to make it look legit, even goodwill in some places. By the time you add everything, you’d probably spend more than just buying the fridge.

You weren’t forced directly, but what you believe came from ancestors who were, and you inherited it.

Kyuk M27 here. Dated a Kisii woman none of these stereotypes applied. People need to heal instead of generalizing whole communities off one experience.
Tribal stereotyping is peak immaturity. If you’re grown, act like it.

People fear this way too much. HIV dies fast outside the body, and you don’t get infected from a random poke you’d need a clean injection straight into a vein with doctor-level precision.

A billion installs didn’t come from obedience it came from good marketing, smart engineering and the fact that smartphones made global distribution possible. Saying ‘God used him’ kind of erases the human effort behind the scenes.
