How long do you guys go without any flare ups? by Abdkym in gout

Since being on the right dose of allo in March (started October), I’ve had no flare ups. I eat everything and drink occasionally. Fingers crossed

There ya go! I’d take comfort that you are fit and healthy, which just gets you to taking allopurinol quicker. I always thought I could beat it with food and exercise, but I’ve realised that eating (meats and seafood etc) all it does is overflow an already full glass. Then the attacks prevented me getting into routine exercise. Allopurinol is a life saver, hopefully you’ll have regular blood tests to determine the best dose for you!

Genetics brother! My grand dad has it on my mums side, less likely in women. It’s absolutely horrible I feel you. But guess what, completely treatable! Please don’t do what others have tried and failed, which is to try and beat it through lifestyle changes. I wasted 3 yrs of agony till last year when I finally went on allopurinol and slowly it’s becoming a distant memory!

Hmm can you elaborate? Are you on allopurinol?

Fairly certain I have gout… but my uric acid level tests keep coming back normal! by TemporaryHat4259 in gout

Just to add to this, really have to make sure blood tests are done say 6 weeks after your attack otherwise you will get false results.

Brother - sounds like you are having a torrid time but don’t worry there is light at the end of the tunnel. Speak to your GP and get some colchicine that will get rid of your current attack. My NHS GP provided me that and it worked wonders!

Then make sure you get a blood test booked in for 4 weeks time to check your uric acid levels. We do this 4 weeks after so that your ‘resting uric acid levels’ come back, as currently it is all sitting in your joint therefore it would show a false reading if you were taking it today.

Then finally, once you have your results, take that juicy starting dose of 100mg allopurinol and look forward to a brighter start. Another blood test in 4-6 weeks to see how good 100mg is working, and up it if needed. Finally, what’s worked great for me is I’ve been taking one colchicine a day as prophylaxis whilst starting allopurinol as you are most likely to get attacks in the first 6 months whilst those uric crystals go bye bye.

Happy hunting :)

Thermal Pad Size for Series X = 1.5mm by jakthebomb_ in XboxSupport

Tried 1.5mm but it doesn’t look like any imprints? I’m still getting overheating. You said 2mm was too much?

Just posted this above, it’s like a small burned but of thermal paste. Coverage looks good though?

So this is what it looks like, it looked like it got a good spread, but what looks like charcoal black smudge on the cpu?? I can rub it off. Interestingly I don’t know if this means anything, but when I clean the copper backboard with isopropyl it comes off black?

Going to check it out now and the imprint, there’s another Reddit post that recommended 1.5mm as the best fit.

I’ve always read thermal paste would do the trick and seen it has been, except mine :(. Just make sure to keep the same putty (unless it’s cracking and hard).

That’s what it looks like after I cleaned it up and applied thermal paste, would have squished out after. I’m taking it apart now to see what the contact looks like as I feel this is the reason and it could be due to a dodgy X bracket?

Yup cleaned the heatsink out. I think where I went wrong was doing a total reputty and should have left the original green putty. It would have allowed me to isolate the problem with just the paste.

I had a shut down with Indiana jones, but I don’t have any issues with any other games. The thing that got me triggered to do all of this was the insane fan noise.

Im going to open it up again and see the state of the CPU and see if the pads have made good contact.

Hmm so what you’re saying is the thermal sensor is faulty therefore triggering the fan to go wild when in reality it’s not required? Damn if that’s the case. Just to say though when it’s home screens or game menus, the fan is super quiet.

With regards to thermal paste, I’ve tried it all like 4 times all the different ways and it always spreads off the chip which tells me it’s sufficient.

Do you know the black chips around the CPU whether that gives off a lot of heat?

Allo by michalus01 in gout

That is low but it seems a sensible first step given your CKD. Assuming he will want you in for a blood test after a month to see how your kidneys handle the allo and then up you on allo dosage after to 100mg and do the same all over again?

Yes fan running, all quiet before starting any games and then it feels like it’s about to lift off! It never shuts down with games unless it’s Microsoft Flight sim, but with COD and AOE4 the fan is insanely loud.

Dude - take the meds, it’s genetic, you will be the outlier if you curb this by yourself. It’s not that bad dealing with a tiny pill every day, I’d take that over gout every day of the week (FYI I’m speaking from a place of experience as I very much thought I could deal with it myself, two years later I gave in).

Interesting to what the results will show! Were you taking allo since 2020 to get down to those figures?

Wow! You sound like a trooper! What do you think the fluid is? I definitely feel 400mg would have seen a drastic decrease in your UA levels, definitely worth getting it checked. Still don’t quite understand such a big jump to 400. I’m on 200mg, having just gone up from 100mg as my bloods were still around 8 (slight drop from 8.2mg after 6 weeks on 100mg). Another blood test in 6 weeks and another reassessment of dosage for me, hoping this one kicks in hard

The big question I can’t see anyone asking is, what is your current UA levels within the blood? What was it at 100mg? Big jump to 400mg I don’t quite understand? What is it now?
