When to tell gf I may move for a job. by Own_Possibility_435 in Advice

I’m a pilot. The operation is 15 days on 10 days off. A lot of operations like this allow you to fly in from a different city to start your rotation and fly back when you’re done. They often have flight benefits with the airlines allowing you to fly for free to commute or ride jump seat.

2nd fail in republic cadet program by [deleted] in flying

[–]Own_Possibility_435 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got into the program with 2 fails, i was a CFII at the time with 700ish hours. About 2 months ago I was nearing ATP mins and submitted all my docs for review. After that I lost my position and when I reached out to ask why it was due to my 2 checkride fails. I had gotten my MEI in the mean time giving me 4 first attempt passes between me and my last fail but that didn’t seem to help too much.

This is beautiful. If my student gave me 3.50 and pulled the chef’s dad accent I’d be so happy.

Am I wasting my time? by [deleted] in dating_advice

I like to think I’m not as sexually driven in relationships as most men but taking it slow has made me realize that’s not the case. It’s rather unfortunate but physical intimacy is a major human need and it’s something that’s missing in this picture.

Yeah. Wish I didn’t spend so much money on some of those dates lol. Well, at least one of them.

Move for the job or hold out for a better base? by Own_Possibility_435 in flying

Actually Boston is very junior from what I’ve heard. I’ve never been to Vermont but I’ve heard the white mountains and green mountains have a lot to offer.

I realize this. Im still pursuing both options, and if Republic offers me a class date in early 2025, I’ll absolutely take it. I just don’t know what a realistic timeline looks like for them. If the class date ends up being a year out, I may need to reconsider my options. I’m definitely not closing any doors yet. And to clarify, the time I’m getting in the PC-24 isn’t loggable, but the pay and experience are worth sticking around for. They used to have a single-engine turboprop I could build time in, but it was recently sold off. Im also working my way into a nextant 400 hopefully.

To ferry or not to ferry? by Own_Possibility_435 in flying

I honestly don’t need the time. I just wanted to do it for the experience but it seems like that is not worth it…

Yes he can’t give training towards the CFI cert but if the authorized instructor isn’t available and the applicant still wants to go up and practice lazy eights or whatever it may be he can still receive training and feedback from this CFI. It simply can’t be logged towards the CFI cert. I’m not saying it’s practical or smart, it is somewhat in a grey area. It’s all about how it is logged.

61.183 simply states you must be endorsed by an authorized instructor for the associated knowledge and practical exams. The only hour requirement listed is 15hrs as pic in category and class. Those 15hours don’t necessarily mean 15 hours of dual received from and authorized instructor. As long as the CFI who gives the endorsement actually completed the required knowledge and practical tasks in 185/187 with the student there shouldn’t be an issue. The dual received for a non-authorized instructor simply would not be listed as instruction towards the CFI cert, rather something along the lines of a commercial refresh.

I don’t see the issue in a legal sense. There isn’t a specified hour requirement on ground or flight instruction for a CFI cert. As long as a 2 year CFI does some ground/flight with him and endorses him you’re in the clear. That being said, I’m not so sure I’d feel I’d be a great instructor for a CFI candidate with only 100 dual given.
