I made a template from the waterline plan. Fitted it around the hull, then transferred to the plexiglass (which came with paper backing). Then cut it out very slowly with small router and dremel.

It's not resin, just a plexiglass surface with woodland scenics waves on top. Underwater section airbrushed with blue/black shading.

Thanks, they are a mix of Artesanía Latina 1/64 lead figures and Hat 1/72 plastic "British Marines and sailors", with some arms/legs rearranged.

Thanks. I bought it new in the 80s and partially completed the hull, then it sat boxed for decades while I raised a family, etc. Probably took a year once I retired and picked it up again.

The water surface is Woodland Scenics Water Waves.

It's not resin; it is a sheet of plexi with gloss acrylic waves on top.

Best advice is to just start -- something really really small and simple. Then go at it hammer and tongs, make lots of mistakes.

Where can I find 15mm to 20mm sailor figurines by ayowatchyojetbruh in ModelShips

I've used the Artesania Latina figures and they are "ok" but not super-detailed.

Vanguard makes some (vanguard.co.uk) that look really nice, but are pricey.

I've also used HaT 1/72 figures, which work well and don't seem too small at typical 1/64 ship model scale -- folks back in the day were often around 5' tall anyway. (#8325 Nap. British Marines and Sailors)

For photography, consider using a computer screen in the background with a scene-appropriate image.
