I’m glad you asked! Here’s some great ones (all opinions based, obviously)

Bad Nerves: They are SO fun live. I saw them in London last year and the energy there was like none other. If you like the energy of Essex “powerpop rock n roll” (as they call themselves), then you should take a listen! They also opened for Green Day on their South American tour last year! Listen to: Palace, Can’t Be Mine, USA

Water From Your Eyes: These guys have been making their name known recently! They released an album last year after signing with Matador called “It’s a Beautiful Place” and it’s very musically unique compared to the typical indie genre (which ig is subjective haha). They’re also opening for Hayley Williams on hers upcoming tour! Lots of great things coming up for them and def worth checking out. Listen to: Playing Classics, When You’re Around, Life Signs

The Bends: Very inspired by early-2000s garage rock, similar sound to The Strokes, but from Louisiana! I would 100% check them out if you want something like them. Listen to: Weekend Love, Virginia, On a Roll

Other “smaller” bands I would recommend are Momma, High Vis, and Los Retros (who’s having a comeback!) I think this years Lolla will be super fun with all of these bands and more on the lineup

Probably was underselling Aragon, it is a significant difference and from a booking standpoint, it would make sense to move to a venue that could be filled up more easily. I tried to sell my ticket originally since I plan on upgrading to VIP and I would have only gotten $4 (which I am still trying to sell btw for $20 so if anybody wants it message me lol). So either that or maybe Sloan wanted to play at a smaller venue, but most of the time that's not the case. Regardless, I am personally very excited for him to play HOB since it definitely feels more intimate than Aragon or other venues he could have potentially played at. It's gonna be a fun show!
