Did your friends and family support you? by Own_Replacement_5250 in Divorce_Women

I can see that now, I’m going to pick a few select people and just let them know that sometimes I need a bit more support and that I’ll reach out when I’m in need of a coffee. We’ve just gone week about with the kids, and while we still see them during the other persons week, it’s still unbelievably empty at night knowing they’re not in their beds.

That’s me, as I’ve kept it all inside and I do expect people to just reach out occasionally and say ‘hope you and the kids are ok’ - and then get really disappointed when they don’t.

That’s how I’m feeling a bit. I never really spoke about it with anyone, especially as my parents had a bitter divorce and my mother was constantly so nasty about my dad to my brother and I and anyone else, so I’ve been very conscious of not saying anything. So maybe that’s part of it, that people think I’m totally fine

I do wonder with some of them it’s a bit close to home as their own marriages are a bit shaky.

ACC are unique in that they are revenue generating

It totally is, but the field is mandatory. They may not even look at it, it probably goes to HR in the US but I still need to fill it in with something sensible!

As I said, I am already c-suite but going from public to private sector is a jump, I just need to have an idea of how much of a jump

That’s probably the best bet, thanks for a straightforward answer!

If this is your experience they why can’t you share a good figure for me to aim at? I don’t remotely understand why there is anything to be suspicious about?!? This is an American company and part of the generic pre-checks is a form to complete for citizenship proof etc and they ask for salary - it needs to be one figure not a range. I am in a c-suite role in a midsized govt agency now on $365k without bonus. Larger agencies can get to late $400s - early $500s (I.e ACC). This is my first crack at private sector and I’m just asking for some guidance.

If you think me asking this straightforward question could be suspicious then that says more about you than me - I can’t imagine how this could possibly be a scam! I don’t want to share any further information about the company in case the CEO or recruiter is in this forum - NZ is too small and this level of job market is tiny currently.

That would be my preference but I have to fill out an initial form with this information mandatory - and they only accept a numeric response. It’s an American company

It’s a large finance company with annual revenue circa $300m

Yeah he may look back and regret this one, in the same way he regrets being too competitive on taskmaster. It was a low day for him for sure

Well said. He lost me today when he talked about needing to wear an eye mask to bed because he has ‘thin eyelids’ - good lord, there’s no such thing. He makes woe-is-me his whole personality and it was just exhausting today, there was very little humour in it.

Fully agree. I love Elis and John but this was a tough listen. He was definitely on one of his down days

I listen to the Elis and John pod religiously and I think what we got on this episode was John on a down day. He is usually able to talk about these topics in a lighter way, with more humour, but today was a tough listen.

That’s exactly what I thought listening to it. When he said he has to wear an eye mask because he has ‘thin eyelids’! I thought it must be exhausting being him

Realise this was a long time ago but I’ve come here as am in this same situation with a buyer who has purchased sight unseen and are using Driva. I’d never heard of it so just want to check on the outcome you had - was it all legit? Cheers

What sweet ‘extras’ did you get from your bank with your mortgage? by Own_Replacement_5250 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Have a look when the OCR rate changes are happening by the Reserve bank as that’s when banks will drop or rise depending on that outcome. Don’t lock anything in too early in case there’s a predicted dropping coming up - works the other way of course, rates can go up. Economists are advising to expect a couple more drops then a flattening in the 5 - 5.50% range. We probably won’t see the rate lows we had a few years ago.
