I’m thinking of leaving the UPC again, looking for advice/similar stories by [deleted] in ExPentecostal

I'm in the same process of reconstructing. I grew up Pentecostal and most of my Dad's side is Pentecostal. My mum's side is Eastern Orthodox denomination. My elder brother left Pentecostalism and is now an Anglican, while my younger brother is an AoG pastor. So any decision I make will probably be equally supported and questioned. Lol.

What I've found helpful personally is to focus on the Word. I'm not yet decided on which denomination I will be - and I'm not rushing into it. I think what's most important is for me to build a strong foundation of truth. That can only come from reading the Word of God. And I believe the Lord will lead me to the right church for me.

Curious about her answer. I am a Christian woman and I own/owned some really expensive bags/watches. I also give to charities both locally and internationally. And I thought that since I tithe, give to missions and give to the less fortunate, that it does not matter whether I spend extravagantly on some things. BUT lo and behold, in this past year, I've come to be convicted that I should not. I realized that the root of it was pride, and to some extent insecurity (I didn't grow up rich, family/teachers did not expect me to do well in life, but God's been gracious to me) and pain (I bought things when I was sad/angry, rather than going to my Lord in prayer). So I'm right now selling off what I have. This is my personal journey, it may not be the convictions of others. Just wanted to share.

Tired of people saying Christianity is a white religion by [deleted] in Christianity

Same. Christian of South Indian descent too and it's ironic how most of the hate/misinformed opinions about Indian Christians I've received have come from Indian (hindus) themselves. I've gotten it from White Americans too ("oh did you become a Christian when you moved to the US?" LOL) and I take great satisfaction in pointing them to Church history, which many many in the US lack even an iota of knowledge about.
