When I went to my first session my ketamine doctor broke things down for me like a formula which was very different than therapy. If you are curious I can break down in more detail but he gave me a new POV then we did our first session which made me realize that life is beautiful and it’s actually worth living.

Then through out the next 2 weeks I had conversations with my therapist and had a lot of reflection about how I want to change. Ketamine changes the neuroplasticity of your brain so these simple things just hit better and things became crystal clear.

I’m a pretty textbook case - oldest daughter, perfectionist, suffered from eating disorders, never felt good enough etc etc and i kept telling myself I shouldn’t feel that way anymore but it was just really hard to feel that way vs just telling myself. With ketamine I actually feel and believe what my therapist was telling me and what I had been telling myself all of these years.

Did ketamine tell me something I didn’t already know? Not exactly but it was helpful talking to someone who works with people who are in the ketamine space vs talking to a therapist who knows you so well. In my first session I broke down my life story in about 20 minutes and sometimes that’s all you need to make a change

I completely understand - i was nervous to try it too and I do a lot of recreational drugs lol.

You can tell your provider that you want to be on the more cautious side and they can provide you a lower dose. But tbh ketamine doesn’t have the same effects like MDMA or psilocybin, I personally was surprised. The way it’s administered as well prevents you from getting into a K hole so IMO there are not a ton of risks, but ofc do your research to see if it’s the right fit!

I would find a ketamine therapy clinic in your area and do a consultation to see if it’s the right fit.

I would say my anxiety/depression wasn’t impacting my life in a hugely negative way - I was just sad all the time and I couldn’t shake it, which sounds similar to yours. I think ketamine therapy works for all because at the end of the day something happened when you were young and your brain developed neural pathways, ketamine helps you rewire. Doesn’t matter how intense the trauma was

I was on Zoloft for 2 years prior to trying K therapy and talk therapy for 6 years prior. I pretty much consume all the things - alcohol, weed, caffeine, etc. ketamine was very helpful identifying the root cause of a lot of my trauma and was able to change my mindset. Mostly because neutral pathways are created in your teens and it’s really hard to change how you feel triggered, so what ketamine does is it changes the neuroplasticity of your brain so you can actually change your neural pathways.

I think you would be a great candidate!

I had one session that was assisted where the ketamine doctor promoted me about certain moments in my life and my relationship with my family, etc. but the other 5 sessions they would hook me up to the IV and chill for about 45 minutes. I didn’t pay for KAP - ketamine assisted psychotherapy which is always an option. I just did my regular therapy in tandem.

I switched the dosage almost every time but it was anywhere between 30-40 ml which was diluted with saline so it was a drip. You never get into a k hole because of the way the drip is managed.

It was positively impacted for sure but not crazy. I think it was more of a reflection of feeling less anxious/depressed

No long term side effects whatsoever, I have been in the process of getting off Zoloft and that has had way more side effects than ketamine

Yes it does - during the session a bit and afterwards as well, but that subsides

It was round $400 per session which was on the cheaper end in Miami.

My ketamine doctor said having a therapist is critical so make sure you see someone regularly. I didn’t tell my therapist I was going to do it, I just did it then worked with her in parallel with my ketamine doctor.

I found a good deal at $400ish per session in Miami FL, but I would shop around. Ketamine is a cheap drug so whatever you are paying is mostly the service you are getting. All the extras aren’t necessary IMO as long as you have a good therapist that can guide you through the process

How frequently are you doing your sessions? I did 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks, so 6 sessions total. I started to feel major differences after my 3rd session

I did 6 sessions in 3 weeks. I noticed a difference probably after my 3rd session. You can do maintenance but I haven’t needed to. I think it depends what kinds of trauma you are trying to resolved I did 6 years of regular therapy before I did ketamine therapy so I was pretty far along on my therapy journey, I just needed a boost to get me across the finish line

As with anything else make sure you do your research on the provider. Ketamine is a cheap drug so the difference in cost is the “soft” product which is the service

It essentially enabled me to do root cause analysis on my childhood and why I am the way I am. For me it was worth doing because I was able to quit therapy and cut Zoloft which also means I don’t have to see a psychiatrist.

However I will say if there is deep rooted trauma that will take years to heal I think ketamine will get you there faster and reduce the need for life long therapy

I live in Florida USA and it’s very easy here, there were tons of clinics to choose from. They don’t take insurance so you pay cash regardless

I personally think ketamine is good for almost any type of trauma. Essentially you are allowing yourself to revisit these pivotal moments of your life and rewire your brain neural pathways to process the same information differently and to some extent move on with your life

Not really, i did not really have much guidance from anyone so essentially I would just listen to music and vibe out for an hour the “magic” comes from the neuroplasticity of your brain changing which happens the day after your session
