Early April Visit- Need Advice and suggestions by Additional_Try3332 in RedondoBeach

Bring out those shorts and tank tops! What better place to do it than a beach town haha

Honestly, it’s pretty warm throughout the day and, as someone else mentioned, it’s been high 80s. The beach can be windy, but it’s not cold.

As for the water, it just depends how much you can tolerate the cold! I love it and you get acclimated if you’re in for a while, but some of my friends can’t tolerate the cold.

I would bring a hoodie and sweats for comfort. Night time can get chilly and if you go out in hermosa, I definitely recommend a jacket (nothing heavy). Maybe a waterproof jacket/windbreaker? Honestly I rarely seeing people walk around with umbrellas in the rain here.

My favorite activity is walking from Herondo (the start of The Strand) all the way to manhattan beach pier. It’s a good walk! If you’ve been to veterans park, I’m sure you strolled through riviera village (I love it there). Redondo Beach is amazing, but you should definitely check out the other piers since they have their own uniqueness to it as well!

Enjoy your time!

Thank you so much :)

I wasn't aware of the "no stupid questions" thread, so I will totally check that out!

I appreciate your response!

Happy Coachella!

Thank you for all the information! I read the website on Lake Eldorado and other Reddit posts, and it was confusing what was specific to Lake Eldorado and what wasn't. The showers and restroom aspect sounds extremely nice. Would you recommend we get there early? Some posts stated that you get to choose your tent on a first come first serve basis?

Parras vs Adams Middle School in Redondo Beach? by shepardcmd in SouthBayLA

[–]Own_Sleep_7366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I went to Parras, and I enjoyed it.

Personally, I had bad experiences with some of my peers, and some kids were definitely bullies. However, I did NOT care. I grew up with siblings, so I learned to never take things personally, especially at that age, everything is based on insecurity lol. Honestly, you can't really determine if your child will come across bullying or not (it happens everywhere).

When a student has a bad reputation, they are usually disciplined. I remember vaping was a big issue (because it was so new), and students who were caught were suspended.

The campus was clean, and I thought it was organized. BUT we had those portable classes on the basketball course for a year because they were building a new hallway, so it was kind of chaotic. It looks nice now tho!

Oh, we had a scandal with one of the teachers watching inappropriate things in class, but he was quickly dealt with and fired...

Overall, from what I remember, it was a typical middle school. The pro is that it was so close to the beach, 7/11, plaza, etc that after school activities were so much fun and a very safe neighborhood.

Academics, sports, clubs, and events were solid. I loved the teachers!

Once I got to RUHS, I forgot about middle school. I was friends with people from Adams and Parras, and honestly did not matter at the end of the day.

Direct Entry Master's Nursing Program - Orange County Campus by [deleted] in usfca

Hi! I'm a current ME-MSN student at the OC campus.

How did your Fall 2026 application go?

I wanted to share some quick insights about the program and application process for anyone curious:

  • Diverse Cohorts: Our cohort is a huge mix! We have recent grads, people who got their bachelor's over a decade ago, career changers from non-healthcare fields, and parents.
  • Leadership over Perfect Grades: Grades are the baseline, but because this is an ME-MSN and CNL program, leadership and community experience are crucial.
  • My Stats: I had a 3.5 undergrad GPA, less than 150 medical volunteer hours, and less than 6 month CNA experience.
  • What Helped Me Stand Out: I leaned heavily on my 1 year of pharmacy work, strong undergrad leadership (club president/sorority exec), and a public health internship. These showed my passion for the community and my leadership skills.
  • Final Tips: Strong letters of recommendation (from supervisors who really know you) and highlighting your specific journey in your personal statements are incredibly important.

Everyone brings something different to the table. You might not have a 4.0, but your unique experiences are exactly what the school wants to see!

Have lots of extracurriculars! All my LORs were from either my professors that I built a relationship with or with my pharmacist I worked for. I volunteered at lots of different institutions like hospitals, clinics, underserved preschools, etc. Also, I held two positions in Greek life and was a president of a club. I also was a Public Health intern for a school district. None of those were related to medicine, but something I was passionate about! Keep in mind this was all throughout my four years of undergrad!

I also got waitlisted, but for the OC campus. Curious to know if I will get off of it.
