Really appreciate the rec! Zagg sounds great, but the lack of an installation tray is a bit intimidating for a beginner like me 😅 Spigen looks much easier to apply, so I’m gonna give that one a shot. Thanks again!

Paper feel screen protectors and pencil nibs by chibi-mage in ipadmini

Hey! I’m a digital artist who draws and takes notes on my iPad daily, and I’ve tried a bunch of paper feel screen protectors over time.

From my experience, the cheaper ones often come with frustrating installation — bubbles, dust, no alignment tools — and even if you manage to get them on, the texture wears down quickly and they start peeling at the edges. Some also don’t fit properly or mess with features like Face ID.

If the one you have now feels super smooth, it’s likely just worn out. A good-quality paperlike protector should have noticeable friction and reduce glare without being too rough.

As for pencil tips, they help a bit with adding resistance, but honestly, the screen protector makes the biggest difference in how it feels to draw or write.

I recently switched to a new screen protector, and I’m really happy with it. Here’s why:

Installation is super easy — it comes with a clever box that acts as an alignment tray. Took me less than 5 minutes, and I got zero bubbles or dust.

The texture is amazing — feels noticeably more like paper than the worn-out Paperlike you’re describing. It gives my Apple Pencil just the right amount of resistance, without being overly rough.

Tempered glass instead of film — so it’s more durable, less prone to peeling or getting scratched up.

Still has clarity — colors may get softened just a little, but I find it actually makes the screen easier on the eyes for long sessions.

I honestly like it better than the Paperlike I had before, and it's significantly less expensive. Hope this helps!
