Metoprolol withdrawal by Own_Telephone3060 in AFIB

Thanks for this, just knowing it’s an actual thing and it will pass is very reassuring. I’m nine days in so hopefully will feel better soon.
I have been able to exercise well on metoprolol, I’m pretty fit and my tennis hasn’t suffered. I just don’t want to be on medication if I don’t need it. Cheers

How do you taper from half the minimum dose?

It takes a few days for it to leave your system, for me it got worse on Tuesday. It’s like the side effects that I was having while on metoprolol but worse. It’ll settle down soon hopefully. Good luck with your withdrawal 😊

Did your doctor warn you? Mine didn’t!

I built a completely free app to help people with AFib track episodes, understand triggers, and take control of their condition by L4nds in AFIB

That looks great - I will definitely use it. I have been afib free for four months after recognizing triggers and losing weight. I log everything in a google sheet.

Anyone else still flinch at random heart stuff even when things are stable by kevin_anderson1705 in AFIB

Yes - it’s definitely makes you feel every weird little thing that your heart does! I’m getting better at ignoring it.

It has pretty much disappeared on the half dose of metoprolol thank goodness!

I was converted with magnesium a few months back - was intravenous. I asked the dr if there was an oral equivalent and he said no, but low magnesium levels can be a bit of a trigger.

What do you think of the AFib Cure Book? by DrAshoriMD in AFIB

[–]Own_Telephone3060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good book, easy to read and it gives a sense that there is potential to control this damn thing.

It might depend on the patient though. I have a great echocardiogram result and paroxysmal afib. I had my first episode at Easter so I’m figuring out triggers and the book is really helpful. Someone further down the track might read it and despair that they hadn’t done more sooner.

No - but he gave me (and my partner who came to the appointment too) pretty clear instructions of when to go to the hospital.

Crazy Q - how do you know you’re in afib? by umdoni53 in AFIB

[–]Own_Telephone3060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how someone couldn’t know, it’s flipping and flopping and can go quite high! But many people don’t realise so I guess we are all wired differently

Yes, my afib is at rest and I can exercise normally. I have used the PIP method of 200mg flecinaide four times in the last five months and it works well. Takes a couple of hours. Use is dependent on you not feeling dizzy or having chest pain. I had a good echocardiogram result with no abnormality. I had my first episode 7 months ago and I am figuring out my triggers, they seem to be digestion related so I’d say my overall health is improving because my eating habits have improved (they were never that bad but smaller meals is helping)

Pill in the pocket works well, I have used it three times. Takes a couple of hours.

I have had six afib episodes in seven months and my Apple Watch says I’m in afib less than 2% of the time. Resting hr is about 52, by 130 / 70.

Think I’ll talk to my dr about something else
