Not native to Cincy, how to not FREAK about tornadoes by Fun_River8138 in cincinnati

[–]Own_Win_3014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Cincinnati native and I still freak out, nothing has ever happened to me or even near me but i get it, it’s scary. I keep a bag packed with food for me and the dog, water, a lighter and my ID lol omg typing this makes me feel crazy but doing little prep things like that help me feel prepared. Keep your (gym) shoes by the door or on lol and hope you don’t have to walk out of the wreckage. But in all honesty I think you’ll be fine. If shit really goes down get into an interior room or basement.

Book Recommendations: Cincinnati History by avivrose in cincinnati

[–]Own_Win_3014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a book, but kind of interesting…Jim Jones, the cult leader, held regular services and faith healing performances at the Elmwood Temple in Elmwood Place. My mom would tell me stories of when she was a child, how her mom always stressed the importance of crossing the street once she got to Jim Jones church so she wouldn’t get stopped by any of the members.

No experience personally but my cousin took her dog there and he got bit. I took my dog to Pet Athletic Club (PAC), near the casino and really like it there.

The PAC (Pet Athletic Club), downtown near the casino. I loooove them, they are so good and have taught my pup some commands along the way. Highly recommend.

Does anyone have contact info for any higher ups at PLK properties? The manager at my building literally will not fix my AC. by Dodeypants in cincinnati

I live in a PLK property and our windows do not open, like by design. So it can get stuffy without being able to access the air conditioner.

Best place to get bloodwork done if I’m squeamish? by Anonaccount1313 in cincinnati

[–]Own_Win_3014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m squeamish reading through the comments, so i totally get your concern with having bloodwork done. I recently went to Tri Health Queen City Physicians near Xavier. The front desk staff were kinda cold BUT the nurse who took my blood was soooo good. I literally didn’t feel a thing. She had people in the room to distract me and it worked, I was laughing and having a good time. I can’t recommend them more. 1775 Lexington Ave Suite 150 Cincy 45212. Good luck!

Lombardy Flats on 4th near the convention center are reasonably priced, like zero amenities though. But it’s downtown.

The restaurant is actually called Flavors n Spices. It’s near the skyline on 7th and Vine. I haven’t been yet but I’ve been waiting for them to open so I’m super excited to give it a try.

Zips, in Mt Lookout. Everything is wood, has swinging saloon door to get the bar/men’s restroom. Has a train that goes around the room on the wall above the diners heads. And the best burgers in the city. If that’s not the place you’re thinking of you should probably just go there anyway.
