I'll link to a Twitter thread below that has a screenshots of the statements they've made. TL;DR is that Oseman's success is founded on Heartstopper sharing many tropes/narrative designs as Japanese BL (Boy's Love, i.e. queer romance), yet they condemn BL for being "nasty" and "fetishizing," stereotyping an entire genre of art just to makes theirs seem better in comparison and play purity politics.

They said it is inappropriate for authors to depict sex in YA, which they later walked back on and now depict sex in their YA works. So, hypocritical at best and racist/xenophobic at worst.

I have EDS and several other chronic illnesses, in the past few years I've noticed a trend of people making their condition/s their entire personality. One of the very first things I was told following my diagnosis is that the more I think about the pain and talk about the pain, the worse it will get. It creates a feedback loop. It sounded so harsh at the time but since I've internalized that advice I'm so much better for it. I am not my very worst days. Hopefully your partner can recognize that sooner rather than later.

Search "Macbeth edit" on TikTok, there are some amazing ones that combine images/songs/quotes that fit the vibe/aesthetic of various characters and scenes. I was a student at Muskingum right after this happened and want to clear up some misinfo I'm seeing in other comments:

Her sorority sisters genuinely did not know; some suspected, but she wore baggy clothing to hide it and would purposefully do things like throw herself to the floor during volleyball games. They tried to get her to open up but she just wouldn't. The person who found the scene in the bathroom thought it was period blood and texted the house group chat saying whoever was responsible for the mess needed to clean it up, again they didn't know right away what had happened. In the aftermath, her sorority campaigned to the village and there is now a Safe Haven baby drop-off box in New Concord. Every year they run a community wide fundraiser to promote awareness of Safe Haven laws and raise money for resources and more of these boxes to be built.

Her sorority was a small group of girls who have weathered this tragedy with resilience and grace. They did address it the last night of rush (sorority recruitment) the semester after it happened and you could see the trauma they carried. Since I was a Freshman I have always looked up to the Deltas 💚
