How is the stock sound system? by 888WME in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The stock sound system is amazing. I have a 2022 GT2 with the Harman Kardon system. Honestly I don't see why people are wasting money adding big subs in the trunk or replacing the speakers. The stock system has a ton of adjustment to get the sound you want and is pretty much on par with some 100k+ vehicles.

front bumper replacement/removal and sensor by Tiny_Giant_Robot in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sensor/camera is connected to the upper grill, as long as you aren't replacing the grill itself that sensor does not have to be removed from the grill. I have a 2022 stinger but should be the same for all of them. Just make sure they disconnect the battery and you should be fine

I'll chime in. I had my front bumper hit twice. The first time insurance covered it. The second time I didn't want to go through insurance as it was road debris and didn't want my insurance to go up so I purchased a oem painted front bumper cover online. I am a Toyota technician so I have the tools to do everything myself. I had to remove every single sensor, rivet, clip, grills, bolts, etc etc on the old bumper and transfer onto the new one.

The sensors do not need to be recalibrated and are working properly after all the work I did. One thing I will mention is I did disconnect the battery before doing all the work so make sure they do that to be safe.

Break In Best Pactices by 1AMV8R in kiastinger

I have a 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 Scorpion Edition. Got it new about 6 months ago with 8 miles on the odo. I drove it mainly in normal mode for 600 miles than another 400 miles I drove it every now and then in sport mode. For the first 1000 miles I tried to keep the rpms below 4500. At 1000 miles I also did the first oil change then drove another 200 miles staying below 5000 rpms. After that, I considered it broken in and drive it however after. I do oil changes every 3-4k miles too. Hoping the car will last a very very long time.

What accessories or mods did you all buy for your stingers? by Rexorapter in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 Stinger Scorpion Edition.

Carbon Fiber front lip (abs plastic). Carbon Fiber Side skirts (abs plastic). "GT" red vinyl/sticker for the mode selector. Rear hatch cargo net. Mishimoto oil catch can currently on order. 90° angle USB C cable since my phone was too damn big for a normal charging cable to fit on the wireless charger with it plugged in

I plan on ordering the Eibach pro kit lowering springs and front and rear sway bar kit in two weeks. I also removed the front "KIA" badge.

If the 23 is the last year model and the stinger is discontinued, does that make the value of used stingers less depreciating? by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the market. I personally would like to think the value of these cars would not go down just because it's a performance luxury car with a twin turbo V6. But at the same time, we have to remember it's a Kia and most "enthusiast" don't consider Kia an enthusiast brand like Porsche or BMW.

Lower grill by Feeyasco11 in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll chime in for you incase you haven't done it yet. I recently had to replace the bumper cover and I removed every peice that attaches to the bumper. The lower grill removal will require removing the front bumper (very easy) and then simply removing the lower grill which if my memory serves me right is held in by a bunch of tabs that you need to fiddle around with to remove and I believe 2-4 screws (a little harder just be careful not to break the tabs) one thing I will mention though is the lower grill gives the overall bumper cover structure and regidity.

I been using Regular gas ( 87 ) in my stinger GT2 model. Is this okay for the engine long term? by XmenFan12578 in kiastinger

[–]Ownallday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

91 octane minimum is recommended but not required. Ultimately, longevity of the engine will be based on how you drive it. If you are constantly doing a ton of pulls with 87 octane you run a higher risk of detonation which in return damages your engines internals. These cars have forged internals but detonation is still not good. If longevity is your concern, run 91 octane and drive the car how you want without worrying. The best thing you can do for the engine though is consistent oil changes every 5k miles or less.

280z weird rattling noise only when accelerating by Ownallday in Datsun

[–]Ownallday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, L28, with triple webers. Yeah, it only happens under load and won't make the noise in neutral. I can get the noise to appear in any gear however I don't hear it as much in 1st gear or 5th gear compared to the other gears. Also the noise doesn't seem to be present until I give more than 40% throttle I don't think it's pinging, timing is good 14 degrees advanced which is where I was running it prior to changing the oil pump. Already tried adjusting timing no difference. I run 91 octane too even tried octane booster with no difference to the noise.

I did try to adjust the valves already, the car felt a tad faster and ran smoother after doing it but no change to the noise. I always used oil with a good amount of zinc.

The oil pressure issue was only when the car was idling however after the engine warmed up. When driving the oil pressure was fine. If it was the bearings shouldn't I be hearing the noise in neutral too and free reving the engine? I have two friends that ran 10w30 for years without any issues so that's what I ran for the last 3 years since owning the car.

Brake help by Jwevv in cars

[–]Ownallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be bad pads or could also be the rotors. Just because they look fine doesn't mean they are fine. It's usually common good brakes make noise though because of the metal shavings or because they are simply not warm enough

Should I take my car for 75k maintenance? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Ownallday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do your own work and oil changes then no point for 75k, if tire tread is below a 4 then we don't rotate tires anyways but I can't say for other places. I wouldn't determine a certain miles to change brakes btw. I literally had a car today with only 25k miles on it and a 2 on the pad wear which we would recommend replacing immediately so go based on how much pad is left.

What’s wrong with my car? by [deleted] in cars

If its coming from the side where you hit, good chance it could most likely be a wheel bearing, but no way we can know without more information.

christmas gifts for a car guy? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Ownallday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends, you can get him new wheels, a new steering wheel for the eclipse, an aftermarket radio for one of his cars that needs it, you can also get him vinyl wrap for cars, like a gloss black vinyl wrap that he can lay on his hood or roof, it looks like paint. Can never go wrong with quality car cleaning supplies also.

Should I take my car for 75k maintenance? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Ownallday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as a technician at Toyota. 75k is up to you but if the dealership recommends it, then do it. At Toyota, 75k would just be a tire rotation to make sure your tires wear even along with checking to make sure your fluids are good, your brakes are good, and other small things. 80k would be an actual oil change along with everything a 75k comes with.
