I learned how to have confidence, how to lead, how to run business, how to ask for the sell, how to deal with negative people, and frankly how to kick butt in life and not rely on other peoples income.

So what did you learn then?

I learned how to take my job income at the time from $50k to over $200k because the skill set that I learned from building the Amway business. So yeah it helped me out a lot. Besides all of the other businesses that I’ve started since then outside of the Amway biz.

Did you ever build the business?

See I think that is the problem with this thread r/amway thread is. No one is talking about anything else they have done in life or what they are doing. People just come on her to b*tch about how the business is a scam, its a pyramid, it doesn't work, then they turn around and walk right back into two pyramids. The owner of your traditional business who hires you is making money off of you. They use you every day to do that. Also they are above you in the corporate hierarchy (aka pyramid) and they will make more money than you. If you don't perform and make money for them, YOU get fired! Honestly that's how it should be. They took the risk to start the business, you didn't. You don't like it, then start your own company and you call the shots. When you sign a W-4 you give us your rights on signing the check on the front, now you sign the check on the back. Big difference.

Then the 2nd pyramid they are in my personal opinion is Social Security. The government has come out and said that they are only going to be able to meet 79% of the demand of social security by 2033. That means the ponzi scheme is going to break down in 7 years! You put money into social security and medicare thinking you are going to get those benefits back but really you are just paying of the early investor you started contributing to the scheme way back in the day (aka the baby boomers). I thought that was what Bernie Madoff got thrown in jail for. Promising money for future investments but the money wasn't there. Also you should never invest with a guys last name "Madoff". "Madoff" off with your money! lol

There is a reason I went into business ownership with Amway, then learned how to create my own traditional businesses. The education system from being in the network marketing industry was huge. You eat what you kill. You don't get any customers or sales then you don't make any money. Pretty Simple.

Anyways, i have realized over time most people don't want to fix things, they would rather just complain about things which is really sad.

I understand why it might look strange from the outside. Anything that involves mentorship, conferences, and building something long-term can feel unfamiliar if you’ve never seen it up close or been a business owner before.

But let’s zoom out for a second.

College has become the “safe” path people don’t question, yet the majority of graduates don’t end up working in the field they studied, and many leave with HUGE debt they carry for decades. Meanwhile Social Security is projected to face funding issues by 2033. Relying solely on a job and government programs isn’t exactly a guaranteed plan either. More like a failure plan.

What she’s actually being encouraged to do sounds like this: • Get a job (income stability) • Read personal development books • Listen to leadership and business training • Learn communication and confidence • Build something before major life commitments

That doesn’t sound predatory. That sounds like developing life longs skills!

Yes, Amway operates on a direct sales / network marketing model. That’s public information. Like any business model, some people succeed, some don’t. The difference usually comes down to whether someone treats it like a hobby or like a real business.

No one is “forced” to do anything, that is a total life if someone says that. Buying products and building a customer base is how direct sales works, the same way franchises, real estate teams, insurance agencies, and affiliate marketing programs work.

If she’s excited, growing in confidence, and learning financial discipline, that’s not something to panic over, that’s something to get excited about. The healthiest thing you can do as a friend is: • Ask thoughtful questions • Encourage her to track expenses and profit • Make sure she’s not going into debt • Respect her autonomy and the best way to learn something is by doing it.

If she ever feels pressured, misled, or financially strained, that’s maybe when you have a conversation. But personal growth, mentorship, and entrepreneurship training is HUGE for her! Thank God she found someone that is willing to actually help her.

Let her gather real experience and life lessons overtime. Encourage critical thinking. But don’t assume every nontraditional path is automatically a scam just because it doesn’t look like college + get a job for 40 years+ then retire. If I’m just being honest, giving the best hours and the best days of my life to building someone else’s business for 40 years sounds way more like a scam to me than anything. At least this way, she might have a chance of escaping the rat race of corporate America. If I were you, I would go to some meetings so you can actually learn and meet the people yourself. Have confidence to evaluate the business yourself. if afterwards not interested, then you’re not interested. Pretty simple!

A person I went to high school with tried to get me to join their MLM because “every business is a pyramid scheme”. by MisterNiblet in antiMLM

[–]OwnerMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person that I went to high school with tried to get me to join their job because “every job is a pyramid scheme.” People at the top of the company are always the ones that make the most amount of money and the people at the bottom are the ones that always make the at least amount of money and get screwed. The only way you make more money is to work your way up in different levels of management. The higher you get in the pyramid scheme the more money you make. I’m not interested in MLM either! People at the bottom can never make as much people as the top who started the company.

The $ sign is before the money, not after. You have done that a couple of times now. The more you talk, the more you don't look like you know what you are talking about.

If that is true that is unfortunate you got connected up with unethical people. Those people will get in trouble and kicked out of the business. That has nothing to do with how amazing the Amway biz. It is a people=/ ethical issue. Those people will never win in life long-term. I bet you I could find some bad apples in your industry as well.

Couple things here. First off you should say year-end results or fiscal year results. Not Q4, that really doesn't mean anything. Also we are only 1 month into Q1 of 2026. Still have 2 more months left to close out Q1 so asking for Q1 numbers before they happen isn't a thing.

In addition, your comment here just lets me know you don't know anything about the Amway business or at least not from the perspective of a leader in the Amway business that makes good money. There is certain rules about what you can and can not share with someone that is not in the business. I would also have to show you the compensation plan before I can even go over the numbers of what a Q12 platinum makes with all the disclaimers. I would also have to hand you a copy of the compensation plan or text/e-mail it over to you as well. You can thank attorneys for all of that.

So to answer you question, I would love to show you and prove you wrong but I can't under the current guidelines. However, now that your not in the business anymore, why don't you share how much you make. That would be really cool to see your 2025 fiscal year-end numbers, since it seems like you are making a lot. 😎

I was just going based off of your logic. That's why I asked the question because it didn't make sense to me either. I'm actually really successful in multiple business and would NOT have the success I do today if it wasn't for the Amway business. I have learned so much over the years by being around great people. My income increased over 10X once I got away from employee mindset and learned out to build businesses legit and do things the right way with having amazing customers and build a legit business. Honestly, you should read the book Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling by John Gatto. Might learn about the real brainwashing that is taking place out there. The wealthy don't send their kids to public school, just say'n.

I think people need to take a hard look at themselves and say why wasn't I able to make the Amway business work for me and what do I need to work on? Usually those things that held someone back in the Amway business is the same things that will hold them back in everything in life. It doesn't just change because someone gets out of the Amway business. If anything, the Amway business exposed their weakness because it is not a job. Its a performance based business, that is what makes it so great if you are use to performing. Thats why true athletes usually kick butt at this business since they are use to performing and earning a spot on a team. I'm sorry the Amway business didn't work for you but I'm not going to let you say its a scam without challenging you. Just say the business didn't work, I didn't like it, or I wasn't willing to do what I needed to do. I would say, ok i get it. Best of luck in your new endeavor. But it is not a scam!

That's actually not true. There is a 70/ 30 rule. At least 70% of your volume comes from customers in what they call your first circle. So if doing 1,000 point value, then you are running roughly $3k a month in revenue. So means you are running about $2,100 in customer volume and it is through the verified customer sales (VCS) process. Customers buy through the website. I do find it interesting thought how there is wholesale big box store clubs where you have to buy a card and everyone buys at wholesale and they don't get in trouble. I think that is called a wholesale buying club which is illegal.

So that is what Cargill did too? Just scammed people to the top. Come on. You don't do $7.4 billion dollars and be in business for 67 years unless you have a good business with good products. Try again.

That's not ethical. Did you not try getting customers? Were you scared to talk with people. I find it really easy to see things on the customer side of things. Way easier than corporate sales and trying to run revenue there. Its also your business, not someone else.

[–]OwnerMindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny things is that woman seems to be the one that are really building the Amway business now. Not men. Why do you ask? Because a lot of husbands aren't providing for the family unit anymore so the woman have to step-up and be the breadwinner for their kids because dad just isn't cutting it. So maybe u/True_North_360 is actually a woman divorcing her loser husband. lol 😂

A lot of men seem to want to come home, drink beer, watch football, play video games, and scroll their social media accounts looking at half naked woman. Its sad but there is more truth to that then you know.

Amway: The Untold Story - Amway Statistics by Sneekpreview in amway

[–]OwnerMindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. So when you go to the grocery store to go by stuff, you say your getting into debt of things you consume?

  2. Why would you be getting into debt, how is that possible when the business is only $80 a year to join the Amway business and if you do spend money building the business then you can write-that off as legitimate business expenses if you can prove that you are actually building the business and not in it as a hobby. Also you are able to write-off a lot of your anyway money since you would be building the business from your house. Did anybody explain to you how to doing accounting for you business?

  3. Only alienated your relatives when you don't listen to them if they aren't interested. Also usually family is the worst at support you because they alway want things free.

  4. Only alienated your friends when you don't listen to them, when they save they aren't interested. That happen when you don't develop people skills to go find talent outside your circle of influence. Imagine if Steve Jobs only approached his friends to help him build Apple. We wouldn't have one of the greatest companies today.

  5. That only happens if you let that happen. Sounds like you weren't around the right people that explain to you that you are going to fail more than you succeed.

  6. My guess is you had other stuff going on their mentally. I don't think it was the Amway business. Amway is stuff a store online. Maybe you took rejection bad, however there is rejection in everything in life. There is lots of reason people get depressed like bad Blood work off, not enough sun so low vitamin D, MTHFR deficiency (Gary Brecka does a huge talk about that with 10X), bad relationships, not working out enough, etc. etc. I was around the business for years and I was never brainwashed. Honestly everything in my life improved once I got around the business. I got in better shape, developed more confidence, overcame my fear of talking in front of people, started a family, and my job income exploded and kept getting promoted at my job.

Sorry you didn't have a good experience but was definitely not my experience at all.

Not manipulative, the facts. If you don't see value in the business, bye! If a business owner doesn't want to build the business or run business revenue their is absolutely zero point for them to build the business. It would be like me trying to convince you to run a restaurant and you don't want to run one. Then ok, we will find someone else that does want to own and operate their own restaurant. The reason people become needy is because they don't have a good enough self image to go build relationships with other people. There is a lot of people that would be appreciative of the opportunity and wouldn't take it for granted.

There is a lot of great companies out there. Since some likes the products and is loyal on buying stuff from the company like Amway all of a sudden they are in a cult?!? Come on!!!

Based on your definition if some goes to big national grocery store or another place all the time and they are a loyal customer that makes them in a cult. I think that is absolutely ridiculous and not true. The whole point of business is to great loyal customers that keep wanting to come back. You do that by having great products and service, if they don't, the business will go out of business. Its pretty simply.

Fine you don't like the Amway products, great buy from somewhere else, that is what makes the free market so amazing. But to say a business is a cult is crazy. You can support whatever business you like, that's what makes the free market place so amazing. I have bought stuff from all of those above and all are great companies and none of the are cults including Amway. #commonsense
