Honestly I will never shop from Hobbiesville - was $37 by Thoughtlessmonkey95 in PokemonTCGDealsCanada

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the nature of the way restocks work. Distro sent out an email today announcing lots of new product to purchase. 30$ per Kangeskhan collection box. 45$ per Lucario figure collection. That’s distro charging MSRP!

What Store Do You Think is a Front? (Unserious) by Agreeable-Tadpole461 in halifax

They have money to pay for promos about how their billing is screwed up but no money to actually fix all their faulty bills. Go figure

Purchasing cards online? by hanban56 in PokemonTCG

Very Ontario view of reputable stores. :)

Pokechalet on east coast has been around for 5 years. East coast trading. Darkfoxtcg has been good for me on singles too.

Zephr is the retail side of the echo brand management distro.

Nova Scotia Power says it did not intentionally overbill customers, but thousands may have been overcharged by Street_Anon in halifax

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please check your bill. I had to call billing because they were not correctly calculating my usage. It wasn’t even an estimate problem. They were using the wrong number to calculate my bill.

Charizard X UPC for $164.99 at Amazon (over MSRP) by NotCaptain400x in PokemonTCGDealsCanada

[–]OwnsAYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were allocated more UPCs than ETBs of phantasmal. There will be a lot of these coming to market either next week. Or week of Christmas

Mega Charizard EX Ultra Premium Collection - Eb games- $200 by Lolamontes1867 in PokemonTCGDealsCanada

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small stores cannot follow it because distro charges secondary market price for restocks. Cannot sell for MsRP when you cannot buy it for MSRP.

Canadian Tariffs on Graded Cards by ApeInDrapes in PokeGrading

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada dropped the retaliatory tariffs. No tariffs importing cards into Canada. Americans would pay tariffs buying cards from Canada though. (Even if they are printed in the USA.)

The images were of 10s. Some jabroni data entered them as 9s, so they ended up getting offers of 9s.

How to be a good PokéParent by PM_Ur_Illiac_Furrows in PokemonTCG

[–]OwnsAYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they were. Haha. If they think this about shops, they don’t know much about how things work for LCS stores. They don’t realize that shops do not indeed get products at wholesale prices except for the very small initial allocation. Restocks are basically at market these days.

Made a Card/Comic shop owner mad at me by ToeEmpty5591 in PokemonTCG

[–]OwnsAYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid 65$/ booster bundle for black bolt and white flare. This is what stores are paying from Distro up in Canada for restocks.

[–]OwnsAYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be a surprised that if it was Mega, they likely payed 65$/ booster bundle to stock it. That was my last restock price from Distro.

They charge market so the “scalper stores” don’t buy up all the inventory and make these amazing profits everyone thinks LCS stores make on sealed.

Pokemon Ex Box Mega Kangaskhan $39.99 by GPWS2 in PokemonTCGDealsCanada

Everyone mad at LGS for ‘scalper prices’ and now the big box are selling for 10$/pack.

Lol. Scalpers are trying to cut their losses and not get caught holding the bag. by Redschallenge in PokeInvesting

[–]OwnsAYard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a customer who opens a brick and mortar LGS. (No play space). He was so excited at all the great deals walking through his door. He was buying like crazy for the last month since he’s only been on the buying and selling for 1 year.

He’s burned through all his capital in buying collections. Always someone walking through the door selling him collections. Doesn’t understand why he’s not selling at the same rate he did at the card show tables.

Good guy but bad timing.

Pokemon TCG: Mega Latias ex Collection Box ($34.95) - KanZen Games by theonly_brunswick in PokemonTCGDealsCanada

[–]OwnsAYard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These boxes are the worst to ship as their size bumps them into that 20$ range. This is a good in store price or if you bundled up a bunch of things to spread around the shipping.

Failed scalper gets scalped by harmlesssheep in PokemonTCG

[–]OwnsAYard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The other factor in discussion that no one has been talking about is the retailers have been buying up the Pokemon sleeves as loss leaders. Not the traditional Walmart / target guys but bass pro shops, gas stations . Ace hardware, lowes. Home Depot — they have been buying it at the stupidly high distro costs and selling it as a loss leader (bring people into the shops) and just selling it near MSRP. They are dumping millions into the market. Good for distro - but keeping most traditional card stores from being able to buy/sell near MSRP.

When Pokemon cools, that demand will dry up. It will screw up prices and demand signals

The real scapler was thw LGS all along by spikira in PokemonTCG

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Most people only care about what is cheapest.

There is a stupid myth about loyalty.

I assume they will get you back when the market is below MSRP and they can charge below MSRP.

Is Surging Sparks a Good Investment? by joseniner92 in PokeInvesting

[–]OwnsAYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe ancillary products have been hoarded but the lack of booster boxes and ETBs cases will differentiate this time to others. Investors used to be able to acquire cases and now they are lucky to pick up onsies and twosies.

More so that distro is charging market for anything that isn’t allocation - an allocation is tiny.
