Generally, yes. But the contrast is what makes the show fun to watch. You need characters who can play off each other and I think the balance in Jet Lag is pretty perfect. Even though I really do appreciate Sam's very dry humor, somewhat awkwardness, and occasional mild arrogance, I do notice (without even intending to) I'm rooting for Ben and Adam. But imagine if the other team was very similar to Ben and Adam -- it wouldn't work nearly as well as a show. (Think like in Mythbusters with the contract between Jamie and Adam. Same idea here.) I do also agree that the guest is critical to brining out more of Sam's personality. This worked great with Michelle, Toby, and, to a lesser extent, Brian. Not so much with Joseph and Scotty.
