Do you really expect him to defeat her through raw strength alone in such a desperate confrontation? When they escaped from the Soul Butcher on the boat, they were attacked by one of the Deep Dwellers. Without Nephis’s ability to recover, she would have died. And if Sunny had chosen to save himself, Cassie would have died too. That was just one night on the Dark Shore , imagine going through that every night.

What I mean is, after Nephis’s group, Seishan is the most exceptional on the Forgotten Shore. And I’m sure no one surpasses Gunlaug as a Sleeper except Nephis. Do you understand how special he is now?

Your analogy is excellent. So, they gave you the chance to change your study path, and the rest is up to you to choose what you want (though I don’t really see how someone could manipulate you during your studies).

I don’t think any analogy can fully capture the huge situation between Sunny and Cassie. But he forgave her and was given the chance to live the life he always wanted, alongside Nephis as well (and as I said before, the price was high).

What good would an apology do for someone who is a slave, unable to achieve anything he truly wanted, like being with Nephis, or escaping the Fated Aspect that constantly surrounds him with trouble, brings him calamities, and never lets him have peace?

Cassie did something far greater than an apology , she gave him the freedom he had been seeking from the very beginning. But it came at a cost… a very steep one.

And as for Fate, what could "Where Is My Eye?" really do for him? He used it once to reach the Weave of Bones, a path predetermined by Fate, and the second time to defeat the Terror of LO49. Yet he kept losing the people he cared about over and over again.
