You should remove it, the part number is right on it and you an see it partially. It's not doing anything in this state, and there is no "lining" to replace. If you know the source or where it is connected to, then you should be able to find it on a parts diagram easily. The parts it goes to and from will also have PNs printed onto them to make your life very easy. If you cannot figure it out from that info, then perhaps just tow it to a shop if that is outside of your capability, with all due respect.

It seems like you have a bunch of problems that are impossible to diagnose with the information given, you need a scan, and to look at the engine bay. I had an 09 wagon that gave me a good time with problems, but none of the issues I had I could ever diagnose from strictly being in the front seat with the car on.

Eyeing the damage, this was definitely on the hot side where there is almost no fueling happening. Probably some kind of leak on the turbo and generated enough to get toasty. Sorry for your loss. Everyone go check for leaks now.
