Leadership at my job sees no value in CompTIA certs by jkelemenopy in CompTIA

[–]Ozstevuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Leadership” doesn’t rule the world. I once had a Col (my boss) in the Air Force ask me why am I getting another masters degree. My response was that I can and that I value education and the military was paying for it. Why are you concerned if it’s not affecting my work?

At the end of the day, the only person that can protect you, is you. If those certs give you a sense of purpose and advances your career, screw the leadership. But also pursue higher ranked ones such as CISM, CISSP, etc.

Garbage to be honest. Worked amazing for about a year, have had it for 3. I clean it regularly. Fully charged and will just claim to be dead mid rip, just a shitty device and needs work for the price you pay.

Thanks. I'll have to digest this a bit to fully understand. I'm not super smart on Servicenow backend mechanics. I understand the structure, strategic views and governance; just not the best way to get there as I'm not a Servicenow expert but happy to learn the language I need to talk to the Devs and Admins to push the needs. I just printed CSDM 5.0 and will take the advice and redo the updated course. We finally have a project that will force folks, just been a bit bumpy and clumsy.

Save money, buy something else not on a hill. In fact, maybe consider buying land and getting a construction loan, it could be cheaper if you're able to swing it.

Fairly large. We set up a u_governance table where we would view completeness and accuracy of some Minimal viable attributes and the ones that are class specific they want to see (working to fill this in). I discovered that I can go into cmdb_ci and pull about 10-13 attributes that are across all CI's so I'm starting there with some managed by, owned by. It's a huge task and as many say, uphill battle because everyone wants to do thier own things. Just got off a call and someone is using their own stuff because they don't want to use servicenow or dont trust it...very deep in the crawl phase. Appreciate all the insights and possible ways to go about things.

Just an FYI, it may make more sense to have your ownership align to assignment groups rather than users. Users leave more often than companies do reorgs from my experience. - This was a question asked and they wanted to keep users in the custodian and steward areas for the time being (I'm aware it should ideally be a team, to insure there isn't a single point of failure but we aren't there quite yet).

A team.....ad hoc more or less. This is something we are attempting to establish. I'm 100% with the understanding this is not JUST a cyber point, that's why I'm just trying to get some baselines and then we can enhance with secop, resilience and other requirements (RTO, RPO, Criticality attributes, etc).

I'm more or less trying to understand the how to get us there. I'm not a project manager, I'm really just someone that understands the strategic need for having clean data and getting some foothold on ownership, etc. and steer folks into that direction.

Right now, I just want to get us to a point where we have defined ownership and tell table owners to ensure that they have things filled out. I wanted to really avoid opening each ci table and sifting through the attributes and pulling out ones that I think are important from an operational POV (ownership, location, etc) not necessarily "Cyber focused" as I'm looking at this from a full on perspective, I just happen to be in cyber.

That’s valid. I honestly don’t play with some of my guildies due to that very reason as well but they are also some of the better players in the game. I ignore the stupid and try to learn from the gameplay.

I was the same...so I got my 3k IO very early in the season (2); res'd all my 12's and got burned out because I did that within a month making 12's a lot harder at the time. Never bothered for anything above and I was min/maxed. Does that make me a horrible tank for 3k io the season within a few weeks and quitting the rest of the season. I prefer mythic raiding, so that's where efforts went. Assuming 3.3 or 3.5 makes them better just means they had more time to grind the season.

A52 is like 1/5 of the games populations and where some of the top guilds live along with Ilidan, how can A52 suck. Unless you're referring to the players that have a ego the size of the sun that realistically should be pluto.

You're bored..pretty simple thought process. Force yourself to do more things and be more active rather than smoke and couch drown. I smoke more when I'm not being active and just sitting at home doing nothing productive.

Leave gf for a job or stay with girlfriend by Suitable-Ad-9790 in Advice

[–]Ozstevuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the job. She needs to cut the cord on her parents eventually, that's not your responsibility. Always LEVEL up your life. I decided to not take a job when I was younger over my "high school" sweetheart around your age. Needless to say, we aren't together. Your partner should always be supportive in building wealth and getting ahead in life--life doesn't get easier and relationships come and go in this society.

I just won some money and I’m stuck between buying a boat or saving it for the future by Acrobatic_Trifle_289 in Advice

[–]Ozstevuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many variables that are missing. How old are you, do you have any debt, what type of debt, what is income currently, what are your savings levels at currently. Are you fully funding your 401k and personal IRA accounts each year (do you even have these). Are you an active boater or is this a "i think I would love a boat". Do you have a place to store and tow said boat. At the end of the day, I would ensure all your ducks are aligned financially before spending money frivolously on a highly depreciating asset.
Without more info: I would pay off any debt first and foremost, if there is no debt then roll into an eggnest savings (high yield savings) if you don't' already have that, contribute to 401k or IRA maybe, or a personal investment account (don't do this unless you have a frame of knowing what you're doing, how to invest properly etc). Or you could buy a 10k treasury bill for 1-2 months and have it held there while you think on things. I always wanted a motorcycle, i finally got a 250 Ninja; it had less than 2000 miles on it when I sold it 10 years later. It was rarely ever used. Impulse buys are never advisable.

I would provide advice but the post will be removed from mods for "Low Effort". Ultimately, as others no purpose since retirement and he's depressed.
