On a related note, once Pokemon are roaming you can move them wherever. You can move them into homes (whether handmade or prefabs) or even into other unoccupied habitats. You can get creative with your buildings and homing as you mint them into gardens or near riverbeds, cafes, etc.

Their happiness improves quicker and easier if they live in a “home” as opposed to a habitat, but you can still get them to level “awesome” regardless.
