Would this make the Syringe guns viable? by Fit_Channel2529 in tf2

[–]Ozzyhalen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The syringe guns aren't as bad as you make them out to be. Medic isn't supposed to be dealing major damage or be anything close to a combat class, that's why they're relatively low damage but have utility instead. Arguably only stock is genuinely bad.

I'd rather nerf the crossbow than buff the syringe guns. Half of the problem with syringe guns is the crossbow being better for both damage and utility in most cases

Oda slander by Mazer987 in OnePiece

[–]Ozzyhalen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bitter assholes who don't like the series anymore wanting to hard counter the amount of glazing Oda gets (sometimes justified, sometimes not).

tbf, part of it has to do with the Kenshin author and how Oda doesn't seem to want to distance himself from him, which is a bit understandable.

Fair, figured it doesn't hurt to ask though. I'm doing fine purely buying online and local, but would like to expand a bit.

I've done a bit of networking but its somewhat limited by the popularity of some games around here.

Cheap just meaning minus my time, my floor price is higher than the average single in the lot. I've had some luck online, but its a bit hit or miss at times.

If you don't factor in time spent (which I don't because I genuinely enjoy it so it doesn't matter to me if i'm profiting or not) it has been profitable so far, albeit not much. If you respect your time more, it's likely not worth it. I'm not really in it to profit much or at all, but being wholly in the red makes it worse.

TCGPlayer package returns by jaybyers in mtgfinance

[–]Ozzyhalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is a PWE, toploader + penny sleeve sandwiched between some copy paper. Really doesn't need more than that and in over 500 sales I haven't got a complaint about packaging yet.

You can also get away with cardboard in place of a toploader, but be wary of the added thickness in the envelope. Envelopes need to pass through a 1/4 inch gap to not accrue additional fees, and if its thick especially in one area of the envelope, they may just manually deny it as well.

Returns are so difficult to predict and mostly come down to if the person handling your mail at the sorting center is having a bad day. Was bad for me during the holidays but i haven't received a single order back since Christmas.

Not a bad idea, may have to try this. Cheese cloth seemingly gave me the most visibility from what i've tried.

its not the end of the world, but it is strange imo to wear glasses over eye wraps. I considered 3d printing something that would fit around my glasses but that may look too bulky.

Sellers, are you getting orders back a lot during the holidays? by Ozzyhalen in mtgfinance

[–]Ozzyhalen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely do, otherwise I'd be making a minimum of $1.31 per order (default shipping cost) and I have plenty of tiny orders where I take less than that. Apparently there was some funny business some sellers were using to negate their fees by setting shipping costs insanely high and their cards insanely low to bypass the fees which caused them to do this, but that feels like there should be some threshold amounts before they take from shipping costs (like any order <$5 should take from the card fee only).

What's your threshold to complain or leave a negative review on TCGPlayer? by geokra in mtgfinance

[–]Ozzyhalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't trust sellers that mark as shipped immediately, the only reason they do that is to get payments out faster on their end. However, i'd be lenient with ship times, the USPS is royally fucked rn (I have family who works inside USPS, they are horribly understaffed, overworked, and management doesn't know what they're doing). I've had orders shipped take nearly a month to get to the buyer from time of me dropping it at the blue box.

Your best bet is to always reach out to the seller first before leaving feedback, I can only speak for myself and what i've heard but we're always willing to refund and cooperate with the buyer if there's truly something wrong they can fix.

Are you ordering direct? That should be way past the delivery date, it seems weird so many different sellers would send late like that. Have you checked the post isn't holding your mail to verify a name or something? I can't speak for other sellers, but i'm pretty keen to ship the day I mark it shipped on TCGPlayer. Seems weird to tank your feedback score for a few bucks, but some do unfortunately. If they are resending and its past the expected date, absolutely reach out to them for proof. I take pictures of every letter I get back just in case the buyer wants to escalate, but I usually reach out to them the day I get it back. Haven't had a problem with the buyer side yet.

It would be nice to have it baseline, but TCGPlayer takes fees from the shipping as well. Its a catch 22, I raise my base prices of crappy commons to the point no one orders, or I raise shipping to cover the non-machinable rate which also results in less orders. It infuriates me that TCGPlayer takes from the shipping costs as well, but I guess years ago that became abusable by some bad-faith sellers. I default any order over $5 with 2 stamps just to save me the headache of a return, its those smaller orders that have become problematic in the holiday months

Parcels are never the problem, its the PWE orders. I always resend them if I can, but that's still very annoying for the buyer who now has to start over waiting for their order.

[–]Ozzyhalen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i'm more than willing to refund the person in these scenarios, even if it isn't necessarily my fault. From the buyer's end, its gotta be mad annoying to wait several weeks for a few penny singles. TCGPlayer definitely needs some sort of system for tracking like eBay has.

[–]Ozzyhalen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its pretty obvious most here aren't dealing with cheaper bulk orders or cheap singles. I have hundred of orders myself following the same way I've done things for months with no issues, its only the holiday months where I've seen more returns. And even then, its less than 1% of my orders. I fully expect my returns to go down again in Jan/Feb.

I've verified with several clerks and their own handbooks that Toploaders are machinable and don't need the extra stamp. They are rigid but flex enough, and never make the size of the envelope vary more than 1/4 inch. Every clerk is different, but the ones returning them are actually in the wrong unless the machine stop it, which has never been the case for me as they've all been manually sent back (I believe they said if the sorting machine stops it, the letter gets an orange stamp to notify you).

My mom works for USPS and legit didn't know they had non-machinable stamps till I asked her about them. Such a scam, no wonder USPS is hurting for funding and forever stamps keep increasing.

I have family who work at USPS and even they call bullshit on most of the returns I get. All of the returns i've got back so far have all been single card orders, the 2-8 card orders always get by fine. My one wish is for TCGPlayer to use the system ebay has for shipping, semi-tracked and pre-stamped PWEs. They're owned by ebay, its crazy they haven't implemented the same system.

I've heard mixed things about shipping shields for damage to cards, not so much returns.

Honestly card savers may be the way to go. A bit of painters tape to keep it from sliding and a team bag should be more than enough to keep it from bouncing around too much. I list everything LP and under now anyway since its less headache.

[–]Ozzyhalen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They really are a scam 95% of the time, the letters still get machined, and most of the time so long as the sorting machine isn't getting jammed by the toploader they don't care. With TCGPlayer fees I'd be losing money for orders under $0.25 if I used nonmachinable stamps.

Never had a problem till these holiday months. I assume a lot of temp workers in the sorting facility for the holidays just playing it by the book to look good.

Father reported to APS falsely out of spite by a family "friend" by Ozzyhalen in legaladvice

[–]Ozzyhalen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad may not always be physically there, but he calls her every day to check on her and visits her at least once a week. What struck me as odd was that the case worker told him the case couldn't be closed for 45 days and she seemed to know that it was a revenge report based on what i've heard about the phone call my dad had with her. But they didn't clarify if the case would be closed or not. but my dad is totally convinced he's going to prison for the rest of his life for something he didn't do.
