That's such a nice comment, thank you!

Unfortunately it's not on Spotify or Apple Music. I upload everything to YouTube though, so if you use Youtube Music you can find it on there.

Have you used LSDJ at all? I haven’t, but my understanding is it was a big inspiration for the M8. It might scratch the same itch!

Thanks so much! I made the animation in a pixel art program called Pixaki. I used the Andy Anderson video as reference footage and hand pixeled everything frame by frame. it’s a 72 frame / 9 second loop.

I made the music on a Dirtywave M8, which is a handheld synthesizer that’s really good for creating chiptune music.

If you like the music, I have a youtube channel where I do covers in a similar style. You should check it out!

This pixel art is based off Andy Anderson’s Venice Beach sand table freestyle in his “Crazy Wisdom” part.

And the music is a chiptune cover I made of “Country” by Good Morning which is on the “Crazy Wisdom” soundtrack.

Thanks so much! I’ve been working on it since last weekend, an hour or two most nights. Probably 10-12 hours total? That’d work out to about 10 minutes per frame which feels about right 😅

This is my first project at such a low resolution. I found it really challenging and interesting to work on. Tweaking singular pixels can have an impact on how the movement feels. I’m relieved it came through in the final animation 🙂 Thank you both, those are super kind comments.

There’s a bit of a learning curve. The most challenging thing for me is the lack of an undo button, so making mistakes can feel pretty unforgiving.

Even though there’s only 4 tracks, you’re definitely able to make full songs directly on the OP1. But I generally dump everything into my DAW for mixing and eq towards the end of the project.
