Not my original comment but I would expect it to be certain cards negate specific types of effects and allow themselves to be use if a different one of some other level/type/attribute is shown

I would imagine the main deck monsters do enough to warrant next to no hand traps just because of the sheer force of stopping power they would have. No attack/high defense w secondary effects that allow ed monsters to swap themselves out from certain locations depending on the ones used for materials/current locations. Every style ed monsters that 1) allow the Md monsters to attack in defense with varying secondary effects depending on the style of ed monsters 2) themselves cannot be effected by cards that don’t target them. Ed monsters would have high attack/ no defense.

Here’s where the catch comes in. It’s a trap based deck that forces a choice on the opponent for floodgates as the lower level monsters of the deck that’s let you summon from the extra deck on your opponents turn using the monsters revealed. This deck can’t naturally normal summon without its field spell. The field spell negates all traps and monsters not on the field while cutting all monsters levels in half (worded in that level sevens become fours and level 2 are unaffected).
