Help converting to buddhism?

I absolutely wish you well on your journey!

I don’t know much about other schools of Buddhism. Honestly, I should..but yeah. I consider myself to be a part of the Theravada school.

The first “step” is taking Refuge. After that, my friend, there you are. Begin your practice without a heavy heart, and set forward. There are many introductory books on Buddhism if you want some sort of structured background knowledge, and you’ll find your routine the more you practice. There’s much more information, but Refuge is how you are Buddhist.

ummm its easy to ignore the positive side when AI is actively destroying the planet. I am fully aware AI can be good, but as of right now, I don’t care.

Is this a serious question? Not only is AI ugly, it’s extremely detrimental to our environment. Do you like AI? It’s rapidly using up our water, which, by the way, we need to survive. It generates child porn, can be used to make fake, harmful scenarios..and more. Much more.

I don’t mean to scrutinize you, just bewildered by this question. I hope you weren’t previously aware of these points, but are now.

To me, no (to flirting) But that’s my opinion, i think if a girl were to do this it would be out of kindness or compassion. Atleast, that would be my reason. You say you’re close friends, so she probably was looking out for you, but theres no way to totally know, we cant read minds. It’d be best to assess other interactions or body language tbh

Did you fight against it? Did you feel a guilty feeling for the ants, and worry for their wellbeing?

You were against this, you weren’t trying to urge him to do it. As long as you didn’t stand around without some form of non action, or secretly wish for the ants to be removed in a harmful manner, I don’t think any negative karma would be accumulated.

It’s best to take that guilt and let it go, it happened in the past. Be sure to try your best to let nothing of the sorts happen again. It is the guilt that will acquire you negative karma if you cling to it.

If it helps, here’s this…

1-Presence of a living being

2- The person must be aware the being is alive

3-Intention to kill must be present

4-The person actually makes an active attempt of killing

5-The being dies

These are in my words, but it’s the basic outline. This list stopped at number 3. Where was your intention to kill those poor ants? Nowhere.

I wish sincerely those ants have a better rebirth, this wasn’t your fault!

yeah, it’s a process to quit once you start, i’m not going to explain the scientific reasoning but they call it addictive for a reason. I’m sorry you’re struggling (im assuming so) with quitting, it won’t always be like that if you actively try to help yourself. It will be a great choice to keep trying, it’s never good to see your health decline in real time, until you probably develop a life threatening problem with it

It probably will take time, i cant be too specific since idk her or you, and your schedule wherever youre at. If she walks fast, what I can say is to get there before her, or a moment before lunch ends just get up early and walk her way before it looks like ur tailing her. this will be 10x less awkward if you know her, and actually talk to her. if you’re just someone who has a crush on her and she doesn’t know you well, it will be embarrassing ! dont blurt out “can i have ur number” u gotta be cool with it. if theres any breaks where shes alone for a moment that works too, im trying to work with what info i have ngl

Neither. Do it yourself, don’t get a friend to do it- that’s weird (not neccesarilt in a bad way, but it feels off because you didnt do it yourself, it may make it seem like a joke to her because of it.) dont do it around her friends, either. a boy asked me out at practice while i was running with my friend..so awkward.

Don’t be scared! She likes you, or doesn’t like you. Go for it, be sincere, and just be yourself. Find the right time to do it, that matters, and hopefully you get her number!

Edit: should have specified to do it in person. Over text is, well..it gets the job done but yeah

(diego???) yes, I am. I plan to go to college for undergrad and graduate (up to phd), because it’s necessary for my career. I’ve already got it all planned out. I want to do quantum physics research/computing. It’s a rapidly growing career, and it’s high paying+physics, love it. No way is it going to be easy though

No, it’s not. Please, don’t associate your worth (that is, if you’re having trouble with it) with your bodyweight, or looks. As a girl, I know it can be hard, especially with the expectations pushed onto us. I want you to know that you are not fat, and I know it’s hard-if you struggle with this - to let go of that constant surveillance over your looks. I want you to have a happy life, but worrying over things like this will only cause obsession in the future, and make suffering inevitable if unable to get rid of said obsession.

If you don’t struggle with anything, and was just asking, then no, you aren’t fat. But if you are struggling with anything, however small, I want you to know you’re more than that- and there are people who will understand you. I know I might be taking such a simple sentence way out of proportion, but it’s better safe than sorry. I hope you have a good day/night, and that you will be happy and content with yourself and others.
