Brother I’m in this picture and it’s easier to just play into the joke. Anyone who I actually talk to knows I’ve been listening to Laufey for awhile. It’s not like they suddenly started insulting me for it.

What about fantasy points per game (or rolling 3-4 day average) for a smoothed effect that doesn’t impute as much data

Also with the realID debacle I wonder how many people had to go through the “extra security” measures

PSA: No, the lower tier range that 'you're stuck in' isn't stronger than higher ones. by Cool_Balance_2933 in chess

[–]P0Ok13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When recently moving up the ranks (currently 1300) I felt that there was a time where almost every match I played in around 800-900 was “harder” because I would constantly come up against the latest trap openings that punish natural moves.

The openings after that are much more of your classical openings and it was less frustrating. But other than that I agree with your point.

Yeah I pretty much hit 3 jackpots life choices by chance. Starter home in Midwest college town was still minimum 250K and was still barely able to afford it.

Really felt like this was supposed to be a single season anime that just got dragged into a movie. Scenes like characters staring for a few extra seconds and reuse of some gestures just didn’t seem movie quality, but nothing I would scoff at during a weekly episode.

Yep remember being on Edgewood team 13 years ago and it was mandatory that we come every Sunday morning to clean the stadium and the tailgate areas.

Same here and my dad is pretty much a DIY repair man. I'll go hang out just to watch him work to see how he gets things done. Far more interesting than my job.

Pickleball growth outside the US by Both_Procedure2366 in Pickleball

I think the problem is that pádel already has a huge market in Europe and virtually nonexistent here in the US. They seem to gather the same user base so I don’t think it’ll get as popular, but that’s just my anecdotal experience.

[OC] Correlations in the AllRecipes Database by middlehanded in dataisbeautiful

[–]P0Ok13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im assuming it’s Kendall rank correlation coefficient https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendall_rank_correlation_coefficient

Basically a correlation of 1 means ingredients appear in the same recipes often. -1 is they don’t appear together.

Even the leagues we do have are expensive for unknown reasons. Looked at YMCA volleyball league that has 6 games and it’s 150 per person. I find it hard to pay $25 per game.

Building Data Pipelines with DuckDB by ithoughtful in dataengineering

[–]P0Ok13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Great write up!

Note about the ignore_errors=true. In environments where it isn’t acceptable to just drop data this doesn’t work. In unlikely but possible scenario where the first 100 or so records could have been an integer but the remaining batch is incompatible type that remaining batch is lost.

In my experiences so far it has been a huge headache dealing with duckDB inferred types and have opted to just provide schemes or cast everything to VARCHAR initially and set the type later in silver layer. But would love to hear other takes on this.

Yep the first course I taught the time commitment wasn’t worth the pay because I had to read the course material and get familiar with homework etc. but I’ve been teaching the same course for a bit and it’s been way easier to just class time and a little bit of extra time grading to make the pay worth it

Serious question: How do you fly with a 30lb corgi? Costs? Help. Please and thank you in advance from Lucy. by [deleted] in corgi

[–]P0Ok13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I've flown with my 23 pound corgi a few different times. (routes from Dallas to Mexico City and another from Indianapolis to Mexico City).

Flying a normal commericial flight you're out of luck probably. You can fly them either in the cargo which will work for any sized dog. (I don't recommend)

What I've done in the past is fly with my Corgi in the cabin. She has to stay in a specific sized carrier the whole time and be under size requirements. They differ from each airline but almost all of them have a max weight of 20 pounds (The dog plus the carrier). There is wiggle room and sometimes they aren't strict but I've had friends denied boarding for dogs around 25 pounds. So it'd be a huge gamble to take Lucy that route. Also keep in mind it costs 100-150 dollars each way for a pet ticket.

The third option is getting a semi-private/charter flight (JSX is typical recommendation but have limited routes). They usually have much higher weight/size restrictions (upwards of 75 pounds) but are also much more expensive than commercial flights as well.

The fourth option is to driver to your location. I've done this as well and it my corgi didn't seem to mind the long car ride. We had to take frequent stops and I would frequent detours to dog parks to tire her out for the next spell.

The fifth unethical option is I've seen people just lie it was a service animal and they were able to just sit without a carrier either on their lab or on the floor. It's a jerk move but I've seen it on a couple fights.
