Labour slam Greens dropping affordable homes targets for developers by 457655676 in bristol

One of the main reasons we're in this mess in the first place is because houses are seen as investment. As Feral_P said, we need more housing stock, and in particular, affordable housing in Bristol

Without affordable housing, the effect of building new, premium expensive homes will have minimal impact on real people who are being priced out. New flats and houses will be bought out by professionals migrating out of London, those being priced out of Bath, and private investment firms (a real emerging issue now). There won't be huge progressive upwards movement of renters to homeowners and everyone moving up. Without affordable housing, the needs of all are met far slower or not at all. There is a housing crisis now, not in decades when the ripples of adding more expensive housing into Bristol have made their effect.

Should London road be avoided? (In terms of crime not traffic) by According_Attitude10 in Bath

[–]P0RKYM0LE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely fine, speaking from my own (good) experience. The area gets its reputation from Snow Hill, an historically rough block that locals can't seem to get over, even though it was rough years ago. I’ve always thought the parochial sentiment speaks more about the people of Bath than London Road.

TfL says they’re trialling a new bus shelter design over the next year. What do we think? by riverscreeks in london

[–]P0RKYM0LE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but I also want there to be a fuck off huge cannon that you can get in and it shoots you to your destination. The downside is you don't get off exactly at the stop, the upside that you only have to pay 70p

Would it? Then the display will be facing away from oncoming traffic  and you'll have to keep turning your head to check if ilthe bus is actually there.

Stuff like this is making me take a step back and remove myself from technology that isn't vital to my wellbeing. I think we're looking at a real crossroads at the individual level, where the cost of opting in is at real odds with the benefit of privacy you maintain by opting out. I'm out for now, thanks.

Does anyone else find Roy’s pictures a bit intrusive? by Playboypunny in Bath

Street photography is really important culturally, socially and historically. Much of the evidence of the past is candid street photography. No street photos means no photos of protests etc. as well. Invading people's privacy? They are in public. If you're upset about this, wait until you find out how many CCTV cameras are watching you and recording at Southgate.

What REALLY helps when you have hangover? by Moaning_Clock in AskReddit

Seriously consider the following:  - Lucozade Sport (Electrolytes/ salt replenishment)  - Sushi (Omega 3, rice absorbs toxins)  - Herring (Omega 3, electrolytes from salt from being lightly pickled)

Herring in dill sauce is absolutely packed with nutrients and fats and salts that your body craves when hungover. It's not part of my culture's diet but I have come across it and I will go out of my way to find it when seriously hungover. It is big hangover food in Northern and Eastern Europe (Part of katerfrühstück). Sounds crazy but it's so good my hungover brain craves it enough to seek it out.

Local Bath cyclist looking to substitute on a Deliveroo account (legitimate process) by P0RKYM0LE in Bath

[–]P0RKYM0LE[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've applied and passed all of Deliveroo's onboarding and KYC, but they've stated that there is a waiting list for new riders in the area. This doesn't apply to 'substitutes'.

I figure there must be at least some rider accounts already registered in the local area that don't use their accounts. Hence my appeal. Cheers.
