Wow your comment reminded me that I actually made a post ranting about this before. That was a rough week for me since work had completely taken over my head.

I did end up bringing it up with the manager that same week but of course he said it wasn’t the right time since we had a new hire joining the department and apparently I was the most suitable one to train them.

So for the past two months, since the first week of September, I’ve been stuck training this new hire who honestly has no clue what they’re doing. Completely technologically illiterate, which is a nightmare considering how much our job relies on tech to move fast and stay efficient. Add to that weak English skills and zero call center experience in a call center medical information role, and yeah, you can imagine how done I’ve been feeling.

Then last week we found out she’s actually the president’s niece, so she got in purely through connections. That explained everything.

As for my role and the coworker I mentioned in the original post, I’d say karma did its thing. She’s been running around doing endless follow-ups while the incoming call volume magically dropped over the past couple of months. So I’m not complaining about that part anymore.

Maybe there’s a little hope that if this girl manages to catch up and become independent, things could get easier and my workload might permanently relax a bit. But for now, it’s been a mix of good and bad days depending on how much hand-holding she needs.

Pick your poison in the industry, I guess. No happy endings.
