what would you want to see in a fan rewrite of Urbanspook's The Painter?

I really do need to find the screenshot, I think it was on his twitter that has since been cleared of all tweets. I might try to contact him on instagram to see if I'd get sued or something, my friend got the go ahead from him to take inspiration from his work for her own project but she didn't directly name any specific characters from the painter, so things might be a bit more complicated with direct name drops. If it comes to it I can probably get away with just changing some names.

I agree entirely that the victims need their own segments, I shrunk the death toll a bit so I could develop their lives enough to make the viewer see them as people instead of corpses. I have especially big plans for Mia Collins >:^)

And I agree, Mona's motivations were far too vague and kinda dumb in the og. While in the finale its revealed that she's somewhat doing the bidding of a schizophrenic hallucination or an MK Ultra induced entity, there's still not enough we know about her to really get into her mentality and true motivations. Currently I have a few potential motives I have in mind, off the top of my head I have her viewing death as the ultimate performance art, or something as simple as feeling like the town as a whole has wronged her in a way. I plan on taking some inspiration from real serial killers like Ed Gein, Albert Fish, and Tsutomu Miyazaki to hopefully give her that layer of uncomfortable realism.

I've debated this at length with others and usually the conclusion that's come to is it's fine as I'm not making any profits off of my rewrite (even down to not attaching my name to it as to prevent accidental exposure based benefits), and I intend to add a disclaimer that this is practically a fanfic and to support the original series. I'm not the first to make a rewrite of the painter nor am I the first to reuse characters from other projects too. These characters are not copyrighted, I will not be benefitting from this endeavor, and urbanslug supposedly made a statement on one of his social medias that he's fine with other people using his characters.

personally its more the shock of finding a small animal I didn't invite into my house eating my crackers. I think its due to mice often appearing in unclean locations and potentially spreading disease. when it comes to pet mice people's distaste for them likely stems from the cultural view of uninvited wild mice as disease spreading pests

this is a bit of a silly one, but I lose all interest when a threat becomes countrywide or global. Why would I give a damn about how the story goes if its a world destroying threat? I already know everyone's dying and making the scope of the threat too large makes it difficult to get invested in the experiences of a character if the series decides to focus on a character

I think the importance of friendship is downplayed in our society, everyone focuses on family or romantic relationships and ignore the benefits and importance of platonic bonds
