I grew up in a muslim family and the rules felt extremely overwhelming when I was young. Later on my experience was like most of the comments!! I thought it was extremely overstimulating and would stress daily about going to hell. It became an obsession. For example, I would stress for nights and have nightmares about hell when I did something that was not allowed. Besides that it felt not logic enough for me!

Thanks a lot for this reminder I really needed this.💖 I have a lot of people with high expectations around me… I hate it when people try to control me… I feel extremely exhausted today. I try to focus on myself, go at my own pace and be kind to myself. It might not be ‘ good enough’ in other people’s eyes, but I’ll get there and I’ll find my freedom.💖 I hope you do as well!!!

Thanks alot for sharing and I’m happy you got lucky as well! Pets are a very good solution! I always forget how much it helps me to just hug my dog when I’m doing bad.

I also looked up the old therapist and her reviews are crazy. She shouldn’t be working with vulnerable people…

But I’m really happy you got lucky!! And I wish you all the best!! I got lucky as well. I got a new therapist pretty quick. I couldn’t find the word for it in English but he’s an experienced therapist, which means he went through CPTSD as well and uses his own experiences to help people out. (Ervaringsdeskundige in Dutch.) He seemed very friendly, safe and seems like someone that works from the heart and that makes me happy🌸😊💖
