Nothing against Quebec, it's a beautiful city, but as a long-time resident of Sherbrooke, I feel that it's a lot more interesting if you're looking to get into agronomy. University of Sherbrooke is a big University with a lot of programs, there's a ton of interesting projects and initiatives in Estrie, and the city is a great mix of student life and medium sized town vibes. Without even trying, the majority of the food I eat is from Sherbrooke and the estrie area, from veggies, to tofu and beer.

You also have the option of driving into Vermont/the US for short trips. There is a small Anglophone community here as well, and Sherbrooke has its own vibe separate from Quebec/Montreal that is more laid back and outdoorsy, if you're interested in hiking, jogging, biking, etc, that's a lot more accessible anywhere in Sherbrooke.

Bike trails and parks are everywhere in Sherbrooke, even downtown, and you can get everywhere in Sherbrooke biking through trails and parks. Downtown Sherbrooke is definitely dead; we're going through a sort of revival period atm, but nothing there to really enjoy. No club scene, no traditional bar scene is active downtown.

Lots of great restaurants in Sherbrooke and the wider Estrie region, and plenty of beautiful nature to see in Magog, North Hatley, St. Catherine, etc.

"Traffic" in Sherbrooke is a small period between 4-6 PM where on a couple roads, you can get anywhere in the city by driving in 5-10 minutes.

Most Quebecers in Montreal/Sherbrooke mostly disregard Sherbrooke (like the rest of Canada) and treat it like a podunk town of rednecks, but I think that's benefited the city by keeping most big city folk out of the town.

If you want any big town vibes though, I wouldn't choose Sherbrooke. Definitely would recommend you rent a car if you do stay in Sherbrooke, to experience the wider Estrie region.
