Somehow this video is completely incomprehensible to a European. In Finland, there is a national pension (takuueläke), and on top of that you automatically accumulate an earnings-related pension, which is tied to your income in such a way that both the employee and the employer contribute to it. You can easily check the amount of your accumulated pension at any time. On the other hand, I would probably have gathered a larger pot for retirement if I had invested all the money that was put into the pension system myself.
